Established in 1981, Mykonos Greek Restaurant has grown to become a leader in traditional Greek Cuisine. Owner Dimitrios "Jimmy" Merageas was born in Sparta, Greece. Growing up and watching his grandmother and mother cook delicious authentic Greek food in their tiny little taverna, Jimmy was always eager to help. But, school was a priority and in 1972, Jimmy packed up his bags and moved to Chicago, Illinois, to get an American education. His first few years in the United States were rough. He went to school during the day and worked hard in various Greektown restaurants in the evenings to attain the American dream. At that point he realized that his passion was to explore, discover, and create…
Stopped in for lunch to see the grand opening following a nice remodel and ordered the gyros plate.
Service was OK. Presentation was good. However, quantity was excessive. Meat was tough and chewy. Apparently, they make their own. Sorry, won’t be back.
I live close to Greek town and eat there at least a couple times a month. We were visiting family in the suburbs and found this adorable Greek restaurant in Niles. The outdoor patio is super cut, shaded and has a nice breeze. We had...the baby lamb, smelts, calamari, bran IMO, flaming cheeseMore
We happened upon Mykonos by accident, and were quite pleased that we did. The restaurant was very crowded and we were seated in the covered outdoors area, which was fine, except it was very loud. The service was very good, although at times the waiter...did seem a bit bogged down; yet he was friendly and helpful. The food was excellent! The fried calamari was nicely seasoned and tender. For the main course I ordered the seabream which was cooked as I remember when I was in Santorini-- simple grilled with olive oil and spices. It was very nice. My partner had lamb, which made him very happy. The dessert was out of this world-- a custard/baklava mix. Brilliant! We very much enjoyed the food, but the ambience made it difficult to have a conversation and relax. Nevertheless, we would eat there again, but perhaps not during the weekend when there are so many other diners there.More
We had a very nice lunch. The food was very good, nice portions and friendly service. We sat in the outdoor area which is a pleasant setting. But the floors were sticky and there was miscellaneous stuff near the restrooms that should be stored somewhere...else. Some attention to detail from management is needed.More
Let’s say we came home with leftovers. I was looking for a Greek restaurant in the Chicago suburbs rather than fighting the headache of downtown Chicago traffic and parking. We were seated quickly and ordered the combination plate. You know, a little of everything only...it was a lot of everything. We also ordered the Saganaki(flaming Greek cheese). Ok, the Saganaki was not as good as the one at the dearly departed Parthenon Restaurant. In fact it was a bit chewy. The combination plate, however, was good and filling. Even the roasted potato was really well prepared. Usually that’s sort of an afterthought. Not here. We washed this down with a 1/2 carafe of Roditis wine. Service was very good and attentive. It’s not a huge restaurant yet it’s bright and airy. For the record they have valet parking.More

It's a real Greek Restaurant, they have roasted lamb, braised lamb. Greek Spagetti, Lamb Giavestu( baked lamb in tomato sauce and orzo I order this way too often because its good), Lamb in combo plates, gyros, lamb chops, and a rack of lamb. They have ground lamb meat balls for appetizer. The menu is loaded with lamb dishes probably a few I forgot. They have a couple kinds of fresh seafood too, in addition to baked shrimp in feta(my favorite), and sea scallops. Now you've made me hungry, I hope this helps.
