The Anchor Bar and Restaurant sits on the banks of the Illinois River in the tiny town of Meredosia, IL. Looks like your normal corner bar from the front but houses a gem on the inside. The menu has a nice variety of steaks, chicken, pork chops, catfish, swordfish, burgers and more. We all had the catfish and it was... More

Though the place is a little small, the food is Amazing! They have a great salad bar, and all different types of food. For an appetizer the fried mushrooms are mouth watering. The catfish fritters are great, oh well I have no had anything there that wasn't very good! Oh if you are going to go a weekend evening, you... More

If you like chili, try the 'Eldie' horseshoe. It will definitely fill you up. On Sundays the have a buffet, all the items are home-made. We had chicken and... More

We both ordered Ribeye. It was cooked perfectly and was delicious. The salad bar was full of homemade salads and everything I tried was yummy. You have to order the fried mushrooms for an appetizer.

The phone number is (217) 584-1000 and it is not closed according to some posts on the internet. Flood waters could close it but the news would notify you.

We ate here on the Saturday before Mother's Day. It was our first time eating here and I was very impressed. Everything was very tasty and the service was great. For starters we had the Appetizer Sampler and the Livers/Gizzards. I absolutely loved the house-made fried mushrooms as well as the fried cauliflower. The Livers/Gizzards were cooked to perfection and... More
