The portions were extremely small. They brought us the wrong appetizers, then waitress rolled her eyes when we told her. We had to stop on way home at jersey mikes due to we were still hungry. Plus way overpriced.

On our way home from a day's excursion, we decided to stop at "Aquaviva" unexpectedly. We did not have reservations but hoped to get seats at the bar. A friendly welcome from the bartender prompted us to quench our thirst with our favorite martinis. As...the drinks arrived, Lisa assisted us with a menu to ease our selection process and drool over the specialties for the evening. We ordered the chopped salad as a share plate because of the size of the dish so we could save room for the Veal Saltimbocca and Chicken Picatta. Meats were tenderly embodied in sauces that were flavorful to the taste. Our unexpected visit became an evening of good food and friendly atmosphere. Thank you, Lisa, for steering our palates in the right direction and providing us with the hospitality all restaurants should adhere to!More

Not going to rate this as I don’t think that would be fair.....I can only give a partial review. The restaurant is beautiful, great atmosphere. Feels like a higher end banquet hall. Five star first impression. I’m all about a winery, so near impossible for...me to rate this under 3 star just because it’s in my perfect wheelhouse for a night out with the wife. So I wouldn’t have mentioned this, but we waited 5m for the host to seat us although no one was in line ahead of us. It was awkward but not noteworthy for us personally at the time. We were sat at a noticeably wobbly table with only a tablecloth and silverware. Seemed a little off, but again not something I might have noticed after a nice evening. Within 2 minutes we had water served and within another minute bread, olive oil, and Parmesan cheese. So far great night out. Then it got weird. 10m pass, 15m pass. Our water was happily refilled by a wonderful assistant. 20m pass and we ask another waiter if they could let us know who our waiter would be. 25m pass. Now I’m excited about the wine so this is like waiting in dog years for me. It feels like 3 hours have gone by, regardless...30m pass and my wife insists that our options are running out because of the time. We literally set a stop watch on our phone and after 5 more minutes throw in the towel. After another 3 minutes of debating if we are going to leave we get up and walk out 38m after being seated without ever seeing our waiter. My wife mentioned to the bartender as we left that we would be leaving and she was courteous in saying she understood have a nice night. I don’t understand. Maybe it’s a one off, but if others claim a similar experience I’d be a little worried. Cant comment on food or wine sadly.More

Talk about a gem of a place in the middle of the corn fields, but also the vineyards of this Winery and Restaurant. The restaurant is beautifully decorated in authentic Italian marble and decor, the food is fabulous made fresh from their Italian Chef and...the service was top notch! Hats off to your service, Mitch; one of the best we've every had. We've been to many high end restaurants around the world and would highly recommend this place and ask for Mitch if you can!! Julie our Wine Tour host was also exceptional and very informative and passionate on our tour!More

Acquaviva in Maple Park has been a top favorite of ours for years. The venue is spectacular inside, and also has the charming pergola outside for warm weather. In daytime you can also enjoy the view of the vineyard across the highway. We had a...group of 20 there, and enjoyed bruschetta with mozzarella and the best fried calamari around for appetizers, family style. Various people in the group had the sea scallops with risotto (superb), the salmon, or the filet (both excellent), and various other dishes, but my favorite is the zuppa di pesce (seafood mélange in red sauce on linguine). Fabulous! There are also excellent pasta dishes, for instance a delicious sort of rolled up lasagne with spinach. We think their wines are the best from the Midwest, and the Don Giuseppe is world class. At our event we had excellent service: they couldn’t do enough for us. We are looking forward to the next time we enjoy a fine meal at Acquaviva.More

The venue offers a lovely view of the surrounding fields. However, the food and wine were extremely disappointing. We had a nondescript chicken dish which most diners did not finish (over 300 attendees) as evidenced by the food left on plates. The appetizers were an...desserts were ok.More

Website doesn’t warn of being closed, Google has wrong hours, there is no voicemail or message set up for here and last time we tried to eat here there was a handwritten note on the door that said,” Closed for family vacation”...and if I recall...something like,”returning soon”...because that’s descriptive.More

We did the wine tasting at the wine.bar and had an enjoyable experience,in most part due to our server, who was a jovial British chap. We decided to have dinner in the restaurant and because of the time of day(3:30) our server became our waiter. All...the choices sounded great but with our waiter's insight we ordered two of the veal dishes. He did not steer us wrong. The dishes were marvelous. We finished up with the lemonce!lo desert which was light and the perfect ending to an amazing Italian meal.More

We’ve been dining at Acquaviva for years. Excellent Italian dishes, including pastas, fish, chicken, scallops and even vegetarian. We always start with grilled Octopus and calamari. It is very fresh and well prepared with a balsamic dressing. The salmon is excellent, the sea bass we...had a few months ago was to die for. We ordered the veal Piccata and rigatoni with beef and wild mushrooms were both excellent choices. You just can’t go wrong. Top that with their own wine that is so reasonably priced (our fave is Don Giuseppe at $30, the most expensive bottle!) and the incredible ambiance, you’ve got a winner. We sat on the patio overlooking the vineyard. Inside the frescoes and Italian decor are classy and picture-worthy. Even though we’ve moved out of state, dinner at Acquaviva is a must each time we return.More

I was here for an office celebration lunch and it was terrific! We had lunch and a wine tasting, in which we got to taste 3 whites and 3 reds throughout the meal. Appetizers were just okay, but my meal was excellent! I wish I...could remember what it was called, but it was 3 different pieces of fish, served over yellow lentils. Outstanding! I didn't have dessert, but my co-workers were crazy for the Lemoncello dessert. Service was fine.More

This was our 4 th visit to the place and all have been outstanding. The food has been excellent. Done thoughtfully with large portions at a reasonable price point. My has had both the white fish and the salmon and feels both are among the...best she has ever eaten. My favorites are the chicken parmesan and a Italian sausage dish with peppers onions and mushrooms in a marinara like sauce that is excellent. Another surprise for us was the wine. Who new Illinois wine could taste so good. This has to be one of the very best in our area.More

I was there for a wedding and was very disappointed in my, overall, experience. For what the family paid for their special event, the service and food should have been top notch. Instead, you had teenagers and college kids waiting on you and serving you,...and none of them knew what they were doing. I asked for oil and vinegar for my friend's salad, and it was as if I asked for a million dollars. Another disconcerting habit the wait staff had was pouncing on you to take your plate away before you were, barely, able to swallow your food. My entree was a filet, and it was dry, overdone and not of good quality. There were quite a few cancellations on the wedding day and because plates were all ready paid for, the restaurants offered upgrades. Where? An upgrade is asking for Grey Goose vodka for your Cosmo and having it. Instead, the bar only carried Absolut. Management needs to step it up a long way in order to consider its food and service a high quality experience.More
