Attended a wedding rehearsal dinner at the lodge. Beautiful rustic building. The staff was attentive. I had heard raves about the fried chicken however it seemed very dry. Other than that it was a wonderful location inside a lovely state park. Well worth the visit

The lodge was built by young men of the CCC. Lots of taxidermy made it fun! We ate on Friday night and there were chicken and fish specials. The sides were family style and the meals were excellent. Lots of food for a reasonable price. Our waitress was exceptional. The only down side was the noise!! The later and fuller... More

If you like family style fried chicken, and Chicken and dumplings this is a good atmosphere, rustic but nice, in the park setting. Waitresses are for the most part attentive, although it can get quite busy, its a good meal for the price.

My first time visit to The Lodge Restaurant in Giant City State Park was great!!! I also discovered that a relative of mine was a part of the CCC which helped build the state park system in Illinois. They have a wonderful poster explaining how it was formed & some pictures of the men who worked there in the beautiful... More

The fried chicken was awesome. It came with mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, green beans, dumplings, slaw, and biscuits. It was solo good. Come hungry. Beautiful lodge.

My fiance and I camped at Giant City State park last weekend and ate at the Lodge a couple of times. Breakfast was great but took a little while longer than expected as they had a couple large parties to serve as well. Dinner was busy but service was night despite the customer load. For dinner we had chicken and... More

If you like family style dinning this is a place to try, they have great southern fried chicken, with all the fixins. The dumplings are wonderful also, only problem with this place is when you have alot of people the first bowls of food never goes all the way around, they should start off with more of the fixins, and... Ordered the filet mignon and expected a decent steak since they charged $23. The grade of meat was poor and it was overcooked. My husband and I both ordered entrees which came with 2 sides. Our waiter said soup was an available side. The soup arrived when the entrees arrived and was cold. We questioned the extra 2.25 each charged... More

My wife and I had dinner here about 2 weeks ago. The building was built in the 30's. Large timbers and very rustic. Bits of history are on the walls. The food was excellent. We will be back.

Have been to Giant City for hiking in the past and in the lodge, but this was our first time having dinner here during our anniversary celebration week. Went on a relatively quiet Tuesday evening though it still did a fair amount of business by the time we left. We were seated promptly in the cozy lodge dining room and... More
