We drive 45 minutes to Ladd at least once a month for the atmosphere, friendly staff and of course the CHICKEN. This truly is the perfect place for small and large groups of people of all ages. If you are real lucky, you will arrive to find a line that can extend a significant way out onto the street. This... More

Every year we drive about 3 hours to experience Rip's. My mom grew up in the area, so it has always been a place for us to go. We now live in Wisconsin but venture back to indulge. Amazing chicken, amazing prices.

This was the best chicken we have ever eaten! We have been on a road trip for the past month and this was such a treat. After miles and miles of beautiful corn fields, I spotted a small sign for "food" at Exit 70....famous chicken....was what the sign said. Tonight was a special fundraiser meal and it made the chicken... More

My in laws read of Rip's somewhere and drive 2 hours to try it last year. They liked it so much they asked my wife and I to go with them. I thought the 2 hours was a bit long especially since we then got in a line that took 1 hour until we were seated. By this time I... More

In certain small towns there are these gems that the locals flock to and the out-of-towners always make sure to stop for when passing through. Rips is definitely one of those places. Amazing fried chicken and easily the best onion rings I've ever had! They serve the "crispies" in a basket as an appetizer while you wait for your meal.

This tiny pub is known all around the Chicago area for how great it is! The fried chicken is unbeatable! You also get a ton of bang for you buck, prices are great! You don't get any silverware unless you ask (its best eaten with your hands anyway!). I wish there were more places like this little gem!

Rip's specializes in fried chicken. This place is an institution. I think it has been in business since the 1920's. The chicken is very fresh and hot when it comes to your table. The french fries are home made in-house. They are special. You can always get dill pickles and 'crunchies' as an appetizer. The decor is not fancy. There... More

Located in the center of Ladd, right on the main drag one mike north of I-80 on Ill 89. A couple of interesting things on this place. It's got the efficiency thing down pat. It's an open, simple, no frills dining room. They serve chicken. No burgers, etc, just chicken. Served in those little paper baskets, no knives and a... More

People seem to just rave about the fantastic chicken here. Yeah, it's pretty good. But I certainly wouldn't call it fantastic, and not worth waiting in lines down the sidewalk for it. The menu is extremely limited, unless you want chicken. You can get light, dark, or strips. All come with fries, and coleslaw is extra. They do have a... More
