We stopped for lunch on a rainy day, the tomato basil soup was delicious but the cabbage soup was overly sweet - almost more like a dessert. Loved the whitefish salad; smoky and flavorful but also very rich. Loved the crispy pickles on the side.

I've been here many times and this restaurant never disappoints. So many things to choose from on the menu, great service, and perfect if you don't celebrate and are looking for some food to eat! It was one of the only places open to eat on Christmas. Great food and well priced.

Five of us for lunch. Four had either egg omelletes or sandwiches-delicious. The fifth order was for cabbage soup. Too sweet for the taste of the orderer. Service was friendly and very good

Who knew. Nu. But it makes sense. A very large Jewish community in the Chicago northern suburbs. I had a corned beef sandwich that would choke a horse. With lattkes. Oy. Wonderful.

I've never been to a New York deli. But Max's Deli in Highland Park advertises itself as Chicago's New York deli and I'm not going to argue. Located at 191 Skokie Valley Road in Highland Park's Crossroads Shopping Center, Max's has been selling matzo ball soup and corned beef and pastrami sandwiches and cheese Blintzes for more than 25 years.... Having returned recently to the area, my wife and I found ourselves in the shopping center that Max's is located in and, hungry for a good lunch, decided to check it out. It was great to see that places like this still exist - we hadn't been to such a busy deli since living in the NYC area a while... More

Always looks sloppy & dirty always needs a vacuuming Go as a last resort when you just want a bite or bowl of soup.

We enjoy lunch at MAX'S almost weekly for lunch and occasionally for dinner. A few days ago I went for lunch and decided to forego my usual soup or sandwich for kippers, onions and eggs. What a mistake. The kippers were not up to par. They were really not edible, whether because of the quality of the kippers or being overcooked... More

Had lunch there yesterday when we were seated at a table with a filthy slippery floor. My 91 year old father was lucky not to have slipped or fallen. When I asked if someone could clean the floor or change tables, the owner (JOEY) pulled out the chair across the table and told him to sit there! When I pressed... More

We enjoyed lunch here before going to the Chicago Botanical Gardens. So, fortunately, we arrived before noon and just beat the crowds on a Friday. The hot pastrami and corned beef sandwiches were big and tasty. The claim is that the meat comes from a New York supplier. Both the food and atmosphere were authentic NY.
