We came here for lunch while visiting family. The almond croissant simply melted in your mouth. Our group had several different sandwiches and a quiche. Everything was delivered to our table in a pretty short time after ordering and was piping hot. No one made a bad choice - everything was very tasty! If you come at lunch, have one person grab a table while others order at the counter.

If you want to taste how French food really is like, this is your place and that is why we like it so much (at least pastries and Brunch options). This is not like other French food or pastries that you find in the majorities of the place in US. The pastries are sweet, but not so sweet, the sweetness is on the right point. The breads, croissants are fresh and delicious too. The options for brunches, like Quiches, Croque Madame (kind of Sandwich) and others are very good.
One of the things that I liked more when visiting France is the pastries and breads and in That Little French Guy I found this found in US. The fresh squeezed orange juice and the expresso are also amazing.
I really recommend it (and I do to all my friends) and we are going there at least twice a month (although I live around 30 mins distance from it).

Six of us arrived right after the main lunch crowd, a table was quickly cleared. French Onion soup was very good. Sandwiches on the baguette were great. Little nieces were pleased with their pan au chocolate. I was happy to find Orangina! Great food, friendly atmosphere. Would be a regular if I lived nearby.

While in Highland Park, I visited this quaint, warm little cafe several times so let me assure the reader that the food is fresh, fine, and will please your palate. It is definitely my sister's favorite local restaurant.
The food choices range from morning egg dishes to sandwiches and soups, and the best homemade french pastries!!!
Parking is avilable both on the street and in a covered lot across the street - free.
The staff is courteous, helpful, and make you feel at home.

Hubby brought me here for my birthday breakfast. I had been before and had mixed feelings about it. This was a pretty good experience though. It was summer and COVID so everyone was wanting to eat outside. Even at 8:15 am on a Saturday all the table were taken. We waited and one eventually opened up.
I ordered the French Toast, which I had never gotten before. I don't usually go for a sweet breakfast. I have to say, the French Toast is amazing. Might have been the best French Toast I have ever had! Not overly sweet even with the whipped cream but the added vanilla gave it just the right amount of spice and interest.
I do think the prices are on the high side. Also often (not on this occasion) they are sold out of many items. For baked goods there are other bakeries that I prefer.

I've lived in France twice, and this place felt pretty authentic to me; they even had the cafe style chairs that you find at cafés in France. I went there with my mom and we were both very impressed. We split French toast and it was very tasty as was the apple tart I brought home with me. I hope to go back again soon, I want to try the quiche!

Always crowded, yet we've always been able to find a seat. We went for a Sunday brunch at 11. The line was short and we had a choice of tables. But by 11:20 the line went all the way to the door and every seat was taken. The Classic French Toast comes with 2 giant slices covered in maple syrup and whipped cream. Great on a cold weather day.
We also picked up a 3" chocolate and a lemon tart to take home for evening desserts.
It's cafe style so you order any pastries which are all on display in the case, then your beverage and finally any menu items. Checkout with cash, card or mobile. You get a number to take to your table and the staff brings out your order.
If you want to skip the line, you can order ahead.
We've been going for years, since they opened, and it's always been a great experience. Fresh & delicious.

Love coming here with my girl to get an unburned coffee and to be tempted by an assortment of wonderful pastries!

Great cafe! I ordered the pear tartlet and it was unbelievably moist and flavorful without heavy sugar. Thank can’t wait to come back and have lunch.

Cute place. I had the vegetarian quiche, which was good - lots of melted cheese, some tomato, onion, veggies - all well seasoned and cooked perfectly. My husband had the Quiche Lorraine, which he said was really good. My mother had the simple French Toast, and loved it. The breakfast potatoes were just okay - no seasoning at all. I would go back for the bread and pastries, which looked great, but we were too full to try.

Loved the atmosphere of this place for weekday breakfast. We had pastries and coffees. Very expensive and pastries were flaky, but nothing super-special. A coffee and pastry set me back almost $7.00 which seemed like a lot. But staff was friendly and it's a nice splurge. Plenty of seating options and not too busy and loud.

The food here is absolutely delicious and you can dine in or take out. They offer salads, quiche, sandwiches, soup, etc. I had the Quiche Lorraine, which came with a salad. It was savory and tasty. I love the fence with all of the locks on it...like Paris!

If you ever been to France, you know that they have some AWESOME desserts, croissants & bread! I was super excited when That French Guy opened Fall, 2018 in downtown Highland Park. Of course nothing can replicate the flakiness of a Parisian Croissant but, That French Guy comes close. It's a casual place to meet a friend for lunch or have a coffee and patisserie.
My son and I had lunch there and ordered the Croque Madame Sandwich. It's basically a ham and cheese sandwich dredged in an egg batter, fried and served with an egg on top. The sandwich was okay. It is served with a side salad which is pretty boring and super hard to eat the micro greens with a fork. The lettuce doesn't want to cooperate with a fork :( We ordered a side of breakfast potatoes but, they also were pretty bland, no seasoning :(
We did take home some desserts which were very good and affordable.
