Casual dining with sophisticated hospitality. American food with an Italian twist, fresh prepared everyday! 78 wine bottle list, 45 global wines by the glass, hand crafted fresh cocktails, 38 item beer craft list. Reservations not accepted, we do offer a "call ahead, priority wait list" which you can call days and weeks in advance to get on, highly recommend to reduce wait times. Seating preference is given to elderly, pregnant woman, families with babies and local regular customers as a courtesy. Very family friendly local restaurant. TripAdvisor #1 restaurant in Glen Ellyn since 2012 as well as Certificates of Excellence.
Stopped in here to escape the winter chill of downtown Glen Ellyn. Stayed for a few delicious drinks. The bar provided a warm respite from the winter weather outside. Can recommend the drinks; will have to come back to try the food.
6 great friends got together at Fire+Wine yesterday for an early Sunday dinner. Some of the group had been here before and spoke highly of it.
They were right!
The menu had a nice range of options : Small Plates, Soups and Salads, Larger Plates,...Pizza, Pasta and Sides.
The Calamari and Zucchini Fries were great starters.
The Blackened Salmon and Tagliatelle, Lake Superior Whitefish and Wine Braised Short Ribs and Risotto were the entrees we selected - all were discussed extensively by the group all to rave reviews.
Bar choices included a wide range of bourbons (our choice drink) and were excellently prepared. The wine list was extensive with a nice range of price points.
Service was friendly, professional and prompt!
A great experience!!More

Thank you Martin. That’s a very nice review and we certainly appreciate it. Thank you so much.
After many years this restaurant still has great food. We went for dinner on Sunday night when the crowds were smaller. I recommend using the call ahead service to get on the waiting list. Sometimes the wait can be well over an hour.More

Thank you Nicole0611. We appreciate your words and the 5 bubble rating.
There’s an old saying...”don’t take your foot off the gas”. We keep working hard...everyday and almost 8 years later we are fortunate to have a thriving business. Thank you for recognizing the efforts....More
Our family of 4, age 15 to 72, arrived at 3:00 on a rainy Saturday & were seated right away. The decor was exposed brick, wood tones, candles on the tables & it was very cozy/comfortable. Our server was friendly, prompt & knowledgeable. We started...with small plates: calamari, arancini, muscles & the ricotta w/honeycomb. The serving sizes were larger than expected & imo, matched the prices. All 4 dishes were delicious, especially the muscles & the ricotta. We also ordered the Italian pie which was just “ok” & the 10 oz blackened prime ribeye which was outstanding! Perfectly cooked & extremely flavorful. Even the included side salad was very good. We have since realized that we received the meatball pie in error (not the Italian pie we had ordered) & that is why it was just “ok”-texture & flavor wasn’t what we expected. Although we were all pleasantly full, we pushed on & ordered the zeppole (Italian fried dough) & the flourless chocolate cake. Again, both were delicious & serving sizes were large. Recommend going for a bottle of wine instead of glasses, as the per glass pour seemed on the light side. Overall a great meal in a very comfortable atmosphere. As the dinner crowd rolled in, folks seemed to be more dressed up, but still many people in nice jeans & sweaters too. We consider ourselves serious foodies & very rarely does a restaurant deliver quality, flavorful food as well as a Food & Wine did. We will be back!More

Thank you N4851IMkareno. We appreciate you writing such a nice review. Glad you enjoyed everything so very much. Our apologies for the mishap with the Italian pie not being delivered and replaced by the meatball pie by mistake. Thank you for your gentle understanding.
Very busy, very loud, can be shoulder to shoulder in here. I do wish they had expanded next door. They need the space!
Other than that issue, the food is very good! I do recommend, but unless you are young and like standing around waiting......Get Here Early!More

Thank you Fly1G.
We appreciate the review and the five bubble rating! There were complications about expanding next-door that prevented us from doing it. However we will keep making good food and hopefully there’ll always be a high demand for fire+wine. :-)
We have been here before, love the place, not quite regulars yet. Drink specials are always interesting but we took a pass tonight. We were across the street (Maize & Mash). Dinner special was spot-on though. Birthday girl was looking for seafood and scallops and...shrimp were in the special. I had my first pizza in 5 visits tonight and I recommend the short rib pizza. It's large enough for two so I had some to take home. Great service as always.More

Thank you 169edv, We appreciate your review and supporting words.
Arrived just as it opened for the day. As a result, our server was not quite ready and service was slow. BUT the food was worth it. Italian Bean Dip, Tuscan Kale salad, Pork Belly appetizer, Grilled Salmon salad and Calamari were all deemed excellent!...The cocktail special of the day left something to be desired though. Would give it a 5 star except for the service. We will definitely go back when we are in the area!More

Thank you Harry! Chef John is awesome. Our customers ask us “what’s good” and I just look at them and I say, “well I know it sounds cliché but everything is good!”
So spot on with your review and we appreciate your words and the...More

Our pizzas are 11"-12" pies cut into 6 wedges. They are considered individual yet people order multiple pies to share. Salads and small plates are the same. We encourage ordering multiple kinds of pizzas/small plates to share around the table. It makes for good table talk and gives everyone a chance to try new things! Let us know if we can make any suggestions for you.
