The food critic who said hotel dining was the next best thing to K-rations hasn't been to Glen Prairie. Located at 1250 Roosevelt Road in Glen Ellyn, one of Chicago's west suburbs, in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, at Finley Road, it is a salute to...executive chef Danny Trejo, whose New American fare is served in a prairie-style dining room with a posh interior and bar. Open from 6 to 9 Monday and Tuesday, 6 to 9 and 4 to 10 on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 4 to 10 on Saturday and 3 to 8 on Sunday, it offers the kind of comfort food that busy travelers and businessmen thrive on. For starters, my wife and I had tomato bruschetta with goat cheese, tomatoes, green salad, Romano cheese and lemon balsamic vinaigrette, a bowl of summer vegetable soup with squash, zucchini, carrots, corn, onion, broccoli, garlic and basil and cob salad with romaine lettuce, tomatoes, onion, blue cheese, avocado, egg, smoked bacon and chicken Champagne vinaigrette. For an entree, my wife chose traditional fish n' chips with cod, rice flour batter, house cut fries, home-made slaw and tartar sauce. I opted for an 12-ounce Iowa Black Angus ribeye steak with mashed potatoes, baby spinach, garden hash and garlic butter. For dessert, we shared a chocolate chip cookie sundae with Home's French vanilla ice cream and smoked sea salted caramel and caramelized summer Illinois peaches with brown sugar, butter, house-made cinnamon pecan crunch and Homer's French vanilla ice cream. A great addition to suburban dining.More

Second time visiting Glen Prairie. Server was friendly and quick. Food was very good and portion sizes were decent. Fresh bread and herb butter was great. Nice quiet place for couples or the whole family. We enjoyed our dinner and will be back again.

My first time here and I was very pleased. Food was very good, service was terrific, and we could easily hear each other in this crowded restaurant. We were seated promptly, the server was attentive and answered all questions, and one guest's dietary requirements were...met with ease. We had a special holiday menu and easily found something we liked. A bit more pricey but it was a holiday. Yes, I'd go again.More

Mary our server is fantastic! She is friendly, knowledgeable and beyond helpful. I chose this restaurant for its gluten free options. I didn’t realize that they are celiac friendly too! Yes, almost everything on the menu is/can be gluten free. I told Mary I have...celiac. She said, “ not a problem, we have a separate fryer they use for fries and fried foods!” I was so excited. I haven’t had “bar food” fried cheese curds, flatbreads or firecracker shrimp in years!!! It was so exciting to have a whole menu of food to choose from versus having two options, and still hoping I don’t get sick from trace gluten. They use separate pans to ensure no cross contamination happens in the kitchen. Beyond all those great things, they are farm to table, use local ingredients and local products. Plus, they grow their own herbs! This has become my go to place!More
