I was so excited for a great Sunday night meal, forgot it was Valentine's Day. Called ahead and explained i was solo, and the chef/owner was very sweet and accommodating. When I arrived, was seated in a great relaxing corner back room. Wonderful attentive staff...with wonderful specials. Wine selection was great and the meal was outstanding. Did not feeled rushed or neglected. Wonderful decor and such a feeling of warmth. Loved every detail about this visit.More

During our short stay in galena, my daughter which is a foodie, made a reservation, loved the food, everything was awesome. Best food in Galena, and believe me we ate in a lot of places

I ordered the Cassoulet which I had never tried before. Very nice; large portion; had to take most of it back to the B&B. Nice atmosphere. Not crowded (Wednesday night in mid-January).

Hubs and I had dinner here on a Sunday evening. One other family in the restaurant so socially distanced and "safe". Our server was very helpful and available as needed. One of us had the sausage plate (a great variety and lots of food). The...other had pork schnitzel also very good. One plate had sauerkraut and the other had red cabbage. Hard to say which one was best as they were both outstanding. For dessert we did something completely different and had cinnamon prunes with cinnamon ice cream. First time we've ever had prunes for dessert but just the right amount of sweet and perfectly done. Can't wait to go again!More

Only good news to report here! Beautiful ambience, attentive service, and delicious food. We had the beef bourguignon which was phenomenal. I'd go back in a heartbeat!

Unfortunately, we couldn't eat in. However, the sauerbraten and beef stew were totally awesome. The sauerkraut and spaetzle was great as well. I highly recommend this place.

We carried out and won’t subtract for the food suffering a bit from travel. Caesar salad was small, pricey but tasty. Four romaine leaves with tasty dressing, tomato, cheese and croutons. The pomme frites were good even lukewarm..... they would’ve been even better with a...dipping sauce like aioli, truffle, etc. The hanger steak was tasty, not the best we’ve ever had but with a good flavor and portion. The veal schnitzel was also above average and a big portion but the spatzle were dry and needed a butter sauce or gravy. I used my red cabbage in an attempt to get them moister.... The price point was a bit steep for carry out and I wrestled grading this between a three and a four..... the personnel tipped the scale upward with an accurate order and friendly phone and curbside interaction.More

Charming and elegant, serving exceptional versions of traditional French and German meals. We had the pate’, steak frites and schnitzel - all were some of the best we’ve had. The stewed-prunes-in-brandy dessert was fabulous!! The prices were reasonable and the service was excellent. We’re going...back tomorrow...More

Our group had the schnitzel (restaurant's signature dish) and the smoked pork entrees. The sauces and sides of potatoes, kraut, red cabbage, and spatezel all complemented the meat so well. The food is mostly German style with a few French touches which is an unusual...combination. They have some interesting German beers, and overall this was an excellent dining experience.More

I was a patron at this restaurant, not the chef or owner, but the menu is quite limited, so I doubt they have gluten-free options. You may wish to contact them.

Don't know but give them a call. It is a small place and if they do have, I'm sure it will be minimal. They won't be open again until Tuesday evening, 815.777.2004
