A big lunch, when we're planning on walking & seeing the sights, just doesn't appeal to us, so we often seek out something with 'lighter' options. This charming cafe turned out to be the right choice .. We shared the 'Chicken Herb Wrap' with two cups of 'Broccoli Cheddar' soup & a coleslaw side. The portion was plentiful, and, looking... More

We arrived around 9am the restaurant was not too busy...yet. Our waitress brought us a small serving of fruit and plenty of coffee. We had breakfast here two mornings, my omelettes were perfect, I chose the side of fruit instead of potatoes, that was a nice option. I would definitely choose this cafe for breakfast again.

We stopped here for lunch. We ordered our food to go and ate outside on a bench, since we had our dog with us, and the weather was beautiful. My husband had the blackened chicken sandwich and I had the grilled chicken wrap and both meals were very tasty.

My sister and I decided to start the day with breakfast at another Galena spot that we learned is closed on Tuesdays. So we walked in to The Golden Hen, It wasn't very busy so we were seated and promptly ordered. We both chose the corned beef hash which we were told is not homemade. That was fine with us... More

We decided to eat here because it looked like a really nice place for breakfast. While we waited for our food, I looked on TripAdvisor to see what other people had said. I do agree with everyone else's comments about the servers. They were very nice but very inattentive. They must not look at the reviews or they just don't... More

I'm not a vegetarian but my wife is, that said we both ordered a veggie panini sandwhich and it was excellent! Fries were NOT greasy and salad seemed fresh. Service was prompt and friendly and the food was prepared quickly. We were in no hurry but it was nice not having to wait long to get our food. Price was... More

My wife had a turkey sandwich and I had a reuben. Both choices were average but the included fries were crisp, salted nicely and tasty. The table had not been cleaned well; the ketchup bottle was sticky and nearly empty. Service was average. We would not go there again based on the lack of cleanliness. If we had seen the... More

Old style diner, complete with counter. I can't say I had the food, only stopped in for a light bite to eat during my day of shopping. Had the homemade chicken rice soup. It was very good, perfect light lunch.

Some wanted breakfast/ some wanted lunch. I wanted endless coffee!!! Lol We had a great time in the historic district of Galena and no one wanted to leave the area for our last meal there. We opted for the Golden Hen Cafe and really enjoyed our lunch / breakfast !

This is not a place to eat. We went for lunch and had salad. That could be the issue. It could be a great place for breakfast but I'll never know
