This place is a hidden gem! (although maybe not so hidden, since it can get pretty packed during lunch) They serve the best udon noodles in Chicago: the noodles taste FRESHLY-made (big deal!) and the broth is savory and flavorful. I mention the noodles separately—because...I have not encountered such high quality noodles anywhere else—but I should say: all of their ingredients taste fresh and high-quality. This is very rare to encounter in a casual eatery in their price range. (udon sets start at $8! AND they come with complimentary California rolls!) I don't know how these people manage to keep their prices so low and their food so fresh and tasty, but they do! And they do it while also creating an atmosphere of genuine hospitality and authenticity. Every time I go there for lunch, I leave in a better mood: It feels really good to patronize a business created by nice people who care about what they do and are good at it. Also: - this place doubles as a Japanese/Asian food store and sells some authentic groceries—also very reasonably priced and delicious. - they deliver, and the quality of their delivered food is just as high!More

It is so fresh! And it feels like you are a part of a small family who really enjoys cooking and serving their neighborhood. I love the little market inside the business and the food is always delicious. I always enjoy getting a warm soup...and a side of sushi. Fantastic quality and wonderful service.More

Sea Ranch is a small sushi restaurant that also carries Japanese food items. You can buy pre-made boxed sushi or order fresh depending on your time constraints. I prefer to order fresh and they will make small changes if requested. Simple tables where you place...your order at the counter, pay, and then seat yourself. They bring your food quickly and with a smile. It is excellent and never have I had a bad meal.More

I dined there twice with my family. This grocery store restaurant is the best you can find in the area. Food is fresh, prices are fair, service is fast and on the shelves, you can find all sorts of Japanese candies and the like. Our...family's favorites were the plain udon set and the spicy rolls. Check the opening hours if you're a tourist: you may expect the place to be open after 9 pm, but most days it closes at 7:45.More

Great place for carry out of to eat at a casual sushi place! The sushi is more affordable than other places in Evanston. They also have a little grocery section with some popular Asian items.

I have always liked Sea Ranch for Maki rolls, etc. But recently I think it is even better! As good as any of the restaurants in town. And I can get some of my grocery there for when I want to cook Japanese at home....The help is great. Also love the barley tea (that is complimentary). Thank you for such great fresh food!More

I would call this a "Sushi Deli". The menu is highly varied and you order at the counter. You can watch your sushi being made and eat in or take out. This is also a Japanese grocery so if you are so inclined to make...your own Sushi or Japanese dish, you will most likely find what you need here. Your order is always prepared quickly and you can be in and out in less than 10 minutes. The quality is on par with mid-range sushi bars and restaurants.More

We've been to a few of the local sushi places - all nice, but this one is definitely the most authentic with fabulous sushi options. Will be going again & again while I live in this area!

Bento box with sushi grade tuna was outstanding. Fresh, high quality ingredients. Rolls were made just moments before they were delivered to the table. Could eat there daily!! Simple cafe within a market. Casual atmosphere. Reasonable prices.

Liked that it was an all you can eat so a great value, not much of an atmosphere as it's in a store front.

This is a no-frill restaurant with a store, or is it a store with a restaurant or rather a place to enjoy sushi, sashimi etc...Relaxed atmosphere, informal seating, nothing extraordinary but pleasant anyway.

Fresh and yummy, authentic sushi and nice variety of rolls. The dining area is storefront style with no ambience, I mostly get takeout.

I would love to have another great take out sushi place in Evanston but this isn't it. The fish is not fresh, and when you walk in, it smells like it.
