Excellent food - ok venue

We have been to this Joy Yee many times and the food is consistently good. The lunch specials Mon - Fri are a very good deal. The chicken basil is really good. The frozen fruit smoothies are also excellent. Ask for the smoothie in a to go cup so you can take the rest with you. They are huge... read more

Joy Yee's used to be a great place when it first opened. Now it's frequented by college students mostly and the quality is average. It is a very loud venue, so don't go there for a romantic meal. The drinks that are made in the blender bar make the whole joint very, very loud. They serve a lot of food.

The lunch specials are filling, inexpensive and delicious. I have had the spicy basil noodles and soup here and they both were huge and delicious. So many drinks to choose from and always the best with so much fruit. I can't wait to try more items. Service is very attentive, fast, friendly and you can tell they like to work... More

This was the best tasting Chinese food I've had in a while. The service was quick and efficient and the restaurant was clean. I would highly recommend this restaurant in Chinatown.

Some of the servers need a training into more professional . The seating are horrible .The seats are way too tight and uncomfortable. They should do the way like push you finish your meal and please don't stay here too long. I know their set up for like fast food service. But forget the customer need a place to have... More

Visiting Evanston for a wedding, a family member took us to Joy Yee's. This is a casual place with no liquor license. They allow BYOB and have an extensive menu. The beef chow fun was mouth wateringly delicious, with hand pulled noodles and tender beef - a huge portion that we reheated for lunch later in the week.

Arrived 6:55 pm to a packed restaurant and had to wait 15 minutes for a table. Ordered wonton and beef brisket pho noodle soup, hot and sour soup, lemongrass chicken wings, honey pepper beef short ribs, and Hong Kong style fish fillet with vegetables. This restaurant’s dishes were huge (with lots of rice) and we realized right from the start... More

Good food, wonderful smoothies made from real fruit. Tables are lined up so that they almost touch--kinda like eating in a college dining hall. Boisterous atmosphere, but everyone seems to be having a good time. Menu is very varied and food is well prepared. Service is attentive and the wait staff usually gets the orders right.

I've been to Joy Yee's three times during my stay in Evanston. The main reason was my hotel being just a few steps away, and their take away option. Portions were very generous (at least for a non-American like myself), however food was generally tasteless and difficult to digest. I love Asian food (Thai, Chinese, Indonesian and Korean) however food... More
