A varied menu of high-end options: starters including escargot, octopus, mussels, veal sweetbreads, foie gras, and the like. Salads are surprisingly large. Mains include several fish options, beef, lamb, duck; don't recall if there were vegetarian options. The thing that impressed me most, though, was how perfectly made everything we had was: quality ingredients, precise cooking and artful presentation. Service... More

We were a group of four. The waiter must have asked 5 times are you ready to order drinks. We only had one wine list. His interrupting broke the flow of conversation and made me feel rushed. The meals were nice. The waiter was a little forward. Made a few comments that fell flat. Our biggest issue was dessert. This... More

We hadn't been to Chef's Station for a few years, and we're glad we got back. The restaurant, in the Davis St. Metro station is warm and welcoming. Very low noise level, very personal service. The restaurant has one of those rare menus from which I'd order every one of the dishes listed. These include meat, fish, and fowl. I... More

Chef's Station is our place to have a holiday meal knowing the food, service, and wine pairing will be just what we want to celebrate fine dining and in this case New Year's Eve. Typically, there are 5 courses that are delivered along with drinks for almost 2 hours. Every course was delicious and delivered with excellent presentation.

We went to Chef's station for Christmas Eve dinner. The food was okay - our initial reaction was that it was good, but nothing we haven't prepared ourselves and prepared better. It was the service that was awful throughout the meal. Our waiter was nice enough, but didn't seem to understand the menu or have any knowledge of appropriate wine... More

We walk by this restaurant all the time and decided to try it. For a family of four, it is a bit expensive. Although they have tried to update the appearance, the overall appearance is a bit dated and not charmingly so. The food however was incredible. Flavors, presentation were excellent. We were surprised and delighted.

We ate here for parent weekend. It was very busy and the staff was stretched a bit. They did a good job, in spite of being packed. Food is still good (haven't been in a few years) and it is a quiet room - which is so appreciated! Nice to be able to hear people talk!!

This is a great place, with well-prepared, outstanding dishes, superb service, great wines. Why is it not more famous? Well, for one thing Tripadvisor has it in "Chicago" while it's actually in downtown Evanston, where it is clearly one of the very top places. Second, it's located right underneath the railway tracks, so people may just pass it by. But... More

Hadn't seen my best friend in almost a year, so when we met up in Evanston we could have gotten pretzels at CVS and had a great time. However!!!!! We ended up at Chef's Station - we had no idea what a major talent was in the kitchen. As a whim we decided on the chef's tasting - what the... More
