For reasons I do not understand, Chicago is just not a great place for bagels: those crusty-on-the-outside, soft-and-chewy-on-the-inside wonders that one can get at Zabar's in New York or the incomparable Montreal bagel that even gets Vermonters driving in to enjoy (and hoard). I know of three places you can go get a good (8/10) bagel in the Chicago area:... More

I ordered a bacon and egg bagel sandwich for breakfast. The bagel was kind of dry, the eggs may not have been the fresh kind and overall it was just very bland tasting.

This little place is a gem not known to many but keeper to lucky who do. Love the simplicity of multi colored brick and many great posters hanging on the wall. I had smoked salmon bagel and it was probably best I ever had. I'm lucky to be introduced to this place and will be back soon

The excellent bagels are accompanied by very friendly service, terrific coffee, and lots of options for spreads and sandwiches. Good value and nice people.

Bagel Art has completely lost its character. It used to be a fun place to bring the kids, great vibe, lots of healthy choices. Somehow that is gone. And what kind of bagel store closes on SUNDAY?

Fortunately I do not live far from here and can walk as parking to get here can be a challenge. There is a lot in back but warning do not park there or you may be towed. There is metered street parking on Dempster and on Chicago Ave. The bagels are pretty decent but a little pricey. The menu is... More

THis is a classic bagel joint...bagels are delicious and they have most of the classic flavors, along with the standard toppings and the possibility of getting different bagel sandwiches. Not a ton of seating, but enough. Can get busy on weekend AMs.

We were driving around Evanston at lunch time which is how we happened upon Bagel Art. It looked appealing from the outside, there was parking nearby, and what's not to like about a bagel? Once inside, I was surprised at how very basic the place was. A board listed the 10 or so sandwiches that they offered on a variety... More

Brought our family here for our last taste of Illinois and what a way to end!! The menu was extensive and the food is prepared before your eyes. They substitute fountain drinks for a variety of beverages (such as all natural juices and teas) and they make a very original version of lemonade. The decor is artsy and they have... More

Bagel Art is my go-to place in the morning. I often have tea and a bagel with a variety of friends. The bagels are freshly made and taste authentic. (I'm a New Yorker, so I should know!) We sit or stand around a high perched table in the front of the shop, talking loudly amid five to ten friends. Often... More
