After having eaten here at least five times, I am happy to report that I've never had anything but an excellent time at Bistro Bordeaux. I always get the escargot as an appetizer and it is always prepared in the scrumptious traditional manner which means I get to dip their excellent french bread in the garlic and Pernod laced melted... I had high expectations based on feedback from friends. It would be great if the service matched the food. Unfortunately we waited forever to order a drink and it just got longer at each phase. having to continually flag down your waiter takes away from the experience.

Executive chef Gide Merriman has brought Paris to Evanston, an authentic French bistro with wines and cheeses and foie gras and salads and hors d'oeouvres and steaks and frites and escargot and bouillabaisse that features tableside service and cherry wood accents and burgundy velvet curtains and mustard yellow walls and leather booths. No question about it, BIstro Bordeaux at 618... More

Have been here multiple times over the past few years, and it is a relaxing, romantic setting in the middle of the quite busy downtown Evanston area. They generally have valet parking on Friday and weekend, but did not have it available on our latest visit. There is street parking (but good luck finding an open spot downtown) so we... More

Meh. Limited menu with a French twist. Loved the mussels and frites. Steak and frites also on the menu, the latter giving you a glimpse into how typical the food is. Nothing is "OMG! This-is-the-best-I-ever-had," but the food is solid bistro fare. Don't get me wrong: I've been there several times and will return. If I want fancy French, I... More

This is a restaurant that never disappoints, not even when we had a celiac vegan as part of the group. This individual still remembers this dinner as the best ever!

Having visited Evanston 4 years prior and enjoying a lovely meal at Bistro Bordeaux, we were SO looking forward to a repeat visit. Sadly, We had such a disappointing experience this time! First and foremost, the waitress was so aloof and inattentive that we felt unwelcome. We had to repeatedly track her down and the restaurant was not full at... More

Bistro Bordeaux never disappoints. From the greeting which is warm and friendly, to the food which is high quality and fresh, it is always a hit. We joined them recently for one of their many special events, Fish & Frites. This was the best "fish & Chips" meal I've eaten. The French certainly have it mastered! The batter was light,... More

I've walked by this restaurant dozens of times and always been very intrigued. I like the ambiance a lot and there is something very French about the place. I found the service to be great. The overall restaurant experience is good. It is a bit noisy, but it was also very crowded the night we were there. Wine selection is... More

I ordered the perfect dish for a cold January night: cassoulet. Hearty meats , beans, duck confit. And it was good, with a nice veal sausage on top. But when I was finished, it occurred to me that I had not seen the duck confit. Our server told me that it had been boned and was inside the cassoulet. Well... More

Dear Glen, Your review caught my attention, first it sounded you enjoyed our Cassoulet but then you were quick to assume the dish was missing an element because we were trying to "cut corners". I would like to assure you that there isn't any conspiracy to "cut corners" which I find offending and foolish to suggest in the first place.... More

The philosophy of the menu at Bistro Bordeaux is an expression of our French culinary heritage, for which we have a profound admiration. The support of our local farmers allows us to use the freshest produce and seafood, just as one would find in the markets in the south of France. The menu showcases the freshness of these pure ingredients through simple, flavorful combinations
