I visited on a week night. Tables were available but no booths in the facility. I had to sit at the bar which was not comfortable especially for the price point at this place. Food was excellent. Only a few table options for groups of less than 4. Lot of tables for bigger parties so they must cater to these.... More

Cellar used to have nearly the same menu as Stained Glass (that it shares a building with). Now, it's a less-than-mediocre "tapas"/small plates joint. Soggy fried cauliflower, mussels frites with almost no mussels but lots of overly salted skinny fries, overpriced bread and what was supposed to be fancy butter, and a tuna poke that was so boring we thought... They remodeled this restaurant and it looks nice. The food was tasty and the atmosphere is very comfortable. The service was decent.

We started our meal with bacon wrapped dates and ahi tuna. The appetizers we selected couldn't have been more perfect. We moved on to lamb chops, a lobster roll, spicy ribs, halibut and each dish was better than the next!

We love this place. The staff is always happy to see you and well informed on the menu. I've tried many things on the menu and they were all amazing. I don't have a sweet tooth but their desserts are incredible.

Was a very cozy, fun evening for a party of 6 friends. We really enjoyed the ambience. The cocktails were good, and I especially enjoyed the lamb chops.

Featuring a well-executed and eclectic small-plates menu. The wait staff struck the perfect tempo with our needy table.

The culinary scene in Evanston does not seem all that great, and I found that this one is one of the better places. Food while not spectacular is competently prepared and the menu offers good variety of dishes and snacks. Cocktails are good too. Prices are reasonable, service is polite, the atmosphere is lively and noisy.

We love this place--the food is cooked in the same kitchen as the more upscale Stained Glass, but the portions and prices are just right. Really interesting combos of ingredients, with friendly service and a casual-yet-nice, intimate atmosphere. What is not to like?
