I really want to love this place but I can’t. First the staff is great and it seems like the quality of their raw ingredients are good but their follow through is lacking. I’ve ate here twice and each time I had an omelette. What...is weird is that no matter what kind of omelette you get if there is cheese then it is on top of the omelette not inside. While some may think this isn’t a big deal. Instead of getting a gooey cheese inside your omelette with all the other ingredients all mixed up you get a dry layer of cheese on top. A completely different taste and not in a good way. The other thing is that both my omelettes had bacon and I’m sure it was real bacon but it was in small bits and not chunks. A completely different taste. Their coffee is great and I enjoy their jam. I really love omelettes and I’ve never seen them prepared like this. I doubt if I’ll be back which is sad as everything else is pretty good.More

Before the pandemic, I used to go to Egg Harbor Cafe in Elmhurst almost every week. At that time, the food was always good and the staff was friendly and caring. After months of lockdown, I returned in early July, 2020. Food was still good,...but the staff had changed and they were not as friendly. I wasn't going to go back, but I did - returned the last week of July, 2021 on a weekday. Place was maybe one third full. Food was good and the service and wait staff had improved, however the floors in the place were dirty - especially the womens rest room. The stall locks have always been faulty, but this time they did not lock at all. And--no purse/coat hooks. The floor was filled with puddles and where the floor was dry--it was so sticky. I do not think I will return to this location. Very sad and disappointing...More

Stopped in with a colleague on a whim when visiting town on business and was not disappointed. Bright, clean environment with friendly staff and fast service. Menu options offer something for every taste with fresh ingredients and healthy portions. Bathrooms were OK. Clean, but the...high Saturday morning traffic had it needing more attention than it'd received. I'd definitely go back.More

I really wish that my Eggs Benedict was to be raved over but——the lemony 🍋 buttery silkiness.... just wasn’t there. The sauce was kinda lumpy with NO flavor. All the other ingredients were there doing their appointed job and seemed fresh- my potatoes were the...cubed variety and as many times happens they were overdone. On a brighter note service very attentive and cordial and coffee served in a thermos—— would be a great place to sit and chat as the interior is very pleasant. If in the area it probably deserves a second chance.More

I had the Bavarian Eggs Benedict. It was especially good. Instead of being on an English Muffin the eggs were on hash browns. Awesome. The service was very good and the food arrived promptly. The atmosphere is very well done and comfortable. Coffee is served...in a thermos which was convenient. I’m from Door County where the real Egg Harbor is. Many of the menu items including the Swedish Pancakes were featured on the menu. Worth the visit for sure.More

I am sorry to report this as the staff and vibe are spot on. However... How is it possible that as the first customer of the day (literally at opening) the eggs were cold and the French toast was barely warm. The bacon was all...fat and barely a stripe of meat on it. I really like this place. I had thought maybe it was a one off but this is my second visit in a week and my previous visit was also a disappointment. Get your act together. You can do better...or maybe you don't care any more.More

Great service makes food taste better. I think 5 different servers touched our table to pre bus and such. Strawberry orange juice is fresh-squeezed. I had the crepes stuffed with eggs and whatever else - it was very good. The buttermilk muffin with the honey...butter was delicious. Nice job Egg Harbor Cafe... reminded us of our visits to the town in Door County by the same name!More

If you have a choice, go here during the week. It's not as busy, and you can usually get seated right away. Otherwise, be prepared to wait on the weekend. My favorite is the Eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce is very good. For me, that...can usually make it or break it. Good old bacon and eggs are also good. My wife and daughters usually get omelettes. They have never complained. The ambiance here is so so. But that's not that critical for me. Service is usually pretty good, even with the big crowds.More

Hadn't been here for a couple of years as we'd felt it was a little expensive for portion size and a very limited memo. But tried again and was pleasantly surprised by better and larger menu that offered more bang for the buck but still...more limited selection than other local breakfast spots with very few non-egg options.More
