Visited the Lion for a family birthday treat on Saturday 20 August. An adult party of seven and my first visit. We all had excellent meals and were well impressed with the overall quality of the food and the attentive service. A really friendly atmosphere and especially no loud background music. This was superb and allowed the conversation to flow... More

We are foodies. We eat out A LOT. I am coeliac. That can make life difficult. The Lion at Farnsfield, whilst recommended by a friend, exceeded expectation beyond measure. The fresh home cooked food, the quirky venue, the friendly but impeccable service...they basically smashed it out the park. I can't recommend this pub enough. My only criticism....that I've not come... More

We stumbled upon this place on a scenic trip back from Southwell. The food was good and prices were reasonable.

. This is a tastefully decorated restaurant cum public house in one of the delightful rural villages in Nottinghamshire. We were welcomed immediately we arrived and taken to our table. Menus and wine list were provided at once and we were given sufficient time to study the extensive fayre. Our order was delivered after a short wait. The staff were... More

Recommended by a family member who has visited many times now, it's not local for me but myself and friends will definitely be returning. The exterior is your typical traditional country looking pub and does look lovely. Great parking either side of the pub but does get busy, luckily we were in one car altogether so managed to get the... More

Found this place on TripAdvisor! What a find, the reviews speak for themselves. Fantastic amazing food. One of the group have been back already 3 times & are still impressed. Just remember to allow plenty of time when booking especially for a special occasion.

Lousy service from arrival. Discouraged from main restaurant as tables were booked for next hour so palmed off to the bar. We have a 20 month The restaurant wasn't even half full on leaving. Unfriendly bar staff. Food was ok but evening was ruined. A measly 30% discount was offered - insult.

You wouldn't believe how difficult it is to get a decent meal somewhere when you are vegan and especially when vegan and gluten-free. I meant to write a review of the lion last time we visited to commend them on their welcoming and accommodating meals for those with differing dietary requirements. I forgot to though. We like to go to... More
