My wife and I wanted Greek food while on a quick visit to the north suburbs of Chicago, and Demetri's did not disappoint!! The owner was a fantastic host and we were able to eat "al fresco" on the spacious outdoor patio. The weather in...Chicago when we were at Demetri's was fantastic and maybe 20 degrees cooler than our hometown of Houston. The overriding reason for the 5* review above was because this restaurant had taramsalata on its menu.....it was homemade and fantastic!! This is a typical Greek fish style dip served with pita bread that is really tasty; and interestingly not available in any of the 3 Greek restaurants we go to in Houston. I would highly recommend Demetri's if you find yourself in the Deerfield area - certainly worth a visit.More

I ate here on Friday with my husband and the food was awful! The calamari was alright but the red perch my husband ordered was awful and had no taste! I let my server know that I was not happy with the meal, he offered...a free slice of baklava, this was horrible too. A truly awful experience! After a long day of hitting the incredible sales at nearby Northbrook Mall, I decided to venture a few miles west to what constitutes North Shore and Chicago's finest Greek cuisine in my opinion, which I remembered seeing at the 2019 Deerfield Fireworks. I have...no regrets about anything. Meal and atmosphere were superb, and staff was attentive to my every need. Since I was on a tight budget with a huge appetite, I ordered Sam's platter, which gives you a delicious variety of Greek Sausage, octopus, grilled vegetables, and two kinds of cheeses. I had a long day of travel on a very cold day last week. Checked into a nearby hotel and walked over to Demetri's. Wow did I luck out. The food was absolutely delicious. Hubby got me craving some Greek food after talking about some Greek wine he wanted to buy so decided to give Demetri's a try. We were talking to them as we were leaving and asked how long they had been open - eighteen years! I...am ashamed that we had never given they try before now. First I called to see if they had a wait. The young woman answering the phone said she would be able to fit us in and took our name. She was very friendly and welcoming. The phone call alone was an encouraging start to the evening. When we arrived, we were seated in a nice cozy booth with a view of the roaring fireplace. This was especially comforting on a cold, rainy, November Sunday. Service was efficient and friendly in a brusque way. I started my meal with the chicken lemon soup. It had really nice flavor. I loved how bright the lemon made it. Only complaint is that it should have been hotter. I ordered the lamb chops for my main and was really happy with them. They were cooked perfectly being pink in the center. They come as two double ribs. My favorite type and cut of lamb chop. The price was fair and I could not have been more pleased with them. They came with Greek potatoes and vegetables. Both the potatoes and the veggies had good flavor but were just barely warm. In fact the food temperature ( with the exception of my freshly grilled lamb chops) should have all been warmer. Overall we were very pleased with our experience here and would not hesitate to return.More

From the genuine hospitality, service, cleanliness and, certainly, the food, the 'problem' with a visit to this Mediterranean-culinary oasis is the depth of the menu's offerings and one only having a finite capacity to make a dent in any singular seating.

On every visit, we have been warmly greeted by the same kind and smiling gentleman. He has also been there upon departure to wish us a good day. He very clearly cares deeply about his business. Food and service have consistently been excellent. In fact,...when my mom recently celebrated her birthday, Demitri's is where she chose to have her birthday meal. Their preparation of tilapia is perfect. High quality Greek salad too. Service has been friendly and attentive each time. The decor is original and has real charm to it. Food was delicious spaghetti and salmon great meal. The chicken pasta with good as well. Definitely will be going there again.

I thought that the food was just superb. I particularly enjoyed the octopus. The salads are especially good. The service was nothing special.
