We had the Saturday night carry out special. It is a full slab $11.99. Very generous slab and honey bbq sauce was perfect since I'm not a "tangy" fan. Bought a side of their fabulous mac and cheese and a piece of cornbread. Hubby is having ribs for lunch tomorrow because I couldn't eat but half. Our order was ready by the time we could drive there and staff was very nice!!

Had an issue with a gift card we had received. The manager and two young employees resolved the situation and went out of their way to do so. My husband is more of a bbq fan than I am, but the food here has been good every time we’ve been here. Excellent service.

We both had two meat plates - plenty of food and tasty. Didn’t have something that super stood out from other good bbq restaurants but easily accessible from the Hampton inn mt Zion.

Great Food!

We have been enjoying their food for years. I am getting lazy in my older years and we pick up smoked meats for the holidays. I am not even a Ham Fan, but theirs is the best. Nice people too.

Very very good barbecue

This is our go-to place after church on Sundays or on a weeknight when we don't feel like cooking. We love to get a pound of something with large sides to go. This will feed us for several days. The people are so very friendly and the indoor restaurant is always very clean. This is a must do at least twice a month for us.

Heavy on Meats

Great selection of meats and nice large portions. Their combination plates and sides are also good. Daily specials make it a great place to visit any day of the week. And the counter staff is always courteous and helpful. You order at the counter, get your drinks, and they bring the food to your table when it's ready.

Delicious Affordable & Fast BBQ

My wife, two sons, and I visited Hickory River Smokehouse for lunch on Father's Day and thoroughly enjoyed our meals! Not only was the food tasty but affordable as well. Only had to wait a few minutes for our food. We will definitely be back.

Our group (about 30) invaded the business and they handled it very well. I heard no complaints and the food I sampled was great. Would definitely go back .

In a fast food setting, not bad. We both had the 1/2 rack of ribs. She had the honey bbq sauce and I had the hot. Both good. Hot not really hot. Did not care for the cornbread (my wife is the cornbread queen) or the vinegar slaw, which had a really strange aftertaste. Zack, the order taker, was friendly and efficient. A keeper!!

3 Strikes and You're Out!

Came in late, approximately 8:30p. Saw special on wall...$22.00 two plates, drink and sides. So far good...then after wife orders I'm told, out of chicken...and by the way, ham, turkey and ribs not included". Had we known, we would not have ordered plates (larger portions) and simply ordered sandwich with sides and drink... saving me several dollars. Next issue...all food cold... not even a bit warm. Had to heat my meal in their microwave...all of it! Asked staff if Decatur store same owner as Springfield or Campaign... they had no clue. Springfield and Champaign stores are great!! Granted, half and hour before closing, but food served should always be hot! Signage should have identified itms out of stock...and ribs should have been substitute in this case. However, staff friendly! I live nearby and have only been there 3 times... probably never again!!

Quite impressed w this place, stopped in on a Saturday evening w family, the service was excellent and the food was served immediately!!! As BBQ goes, it was very tasty, w LOTS of it!!! If ever in the area again I wouldn't hesitate to return!!!

Smoking here is what you want....

Some of the best smoked meats in Illinois. Their sampler plate includes the pork, beef and what other you choose, it is all fantastic. The side dishes are no disappointment either...you can make a meal with these as well. Our favorite is their brisket... very good quality meet to start with and smoked to perfection..never has been a disappoint for any of us. Whether you are by yourself or have the entire family, this is a great eating destination for sure. One of east central Illinois best place to chow down...can't imagine anyone not finding something great to eat.
