Custard cup ice cream is a tradition in the area, and the ice cream is good and fresh. However, the portions are really small - a medium is like a small any other place. They are a little stingy on the cold fudge for the...More

It's a little pricey. They seem to have more of a variety of flavors. The weekly special had a good flavor this time. The flavors they offer on a daily basis seem weaker than other custard stands in central illinois. The Custard seemed lighter and like soft serve. Its okay...More

soft serve ice cream that will melt into a sticky mess before a person can consume it on a hot day. Yes it has a lovely taste,, but what good is that when the ice cream is dripping down to your elbow. Get the pre...More

This place is crazy expensive. They have very small portions. The service is very slow. The employees act like they are doing us a favor by taking our order.

My family really enjoys the peanut blizzards, and the flavored custards - lemon and mint - so delicious!

Some of the best ice-cream I have ever had. A truly nostalgic feeling to the stand. The staff are very professional and genuinely nice people.

The ice cream is good, not great. The cost is high for the quantity of product you get. Service was not very quick either.

Although I have not been to Custard Cup for quite awhile, I grew up in Danville and became hooked on the Lemon Custard way back when. In fact, I have never tried any of their other wonderful custards/desserts because I love it so much. They...More

Custard Cup was first started in 1949. It was originally opened by George and Helen Potter at 2507 N. Vermilion St. in Danville, IL. There they started selling the Custard that Mr. Potter had developed a recipe for. Business started slow, and it was not uncommon to see George and Helen sitting out back playing cards while they waited for customers to come in. The Potter's also created our signature Cold Fudge, to solve the problem of Custard melting when hot fudge was put on it. They owned the business for 20 years and then decided that they were ready to retire. The Potter's had no children, so they sold "The Cup" to the Wilmer and Dorotha Jarling in 1969.
