It’s a conversation and a connection to others. We believe everyone deserves good food, so, we’ve started a movement to do just that. We’re not pretentious or snooty. We’re dynamic and authentic

This restaurant never disappoints. My favorite thing to get is the warm goat cheese salad. A little secret of theirs is the gluten free bread they have that is not on the menu. I am gluten free and this is the best bread I have...ever had. My son who is an extremely picky eater and only likes anything his father cooks, rated their steak the best he has ever had. The waitress was so kind and attentive to us. I would go here everyday if I could. I’ve tried so many vegetarian options and they never miss. Truly a 5 star restaurant.More

Been driving past for years and finally go here for my wifes birthday. Made ealy reservation right when they opened. Sarah was a fantastic server.Wife had a couple glasses of Fidelity Zin. My daughter and I had a bottle of Riesling. Started with the Beet...Bruschetta. Great. Salmon and Jambalaya were fantastic. Daughter just had the soup of the day, Broccoli and Chedder, and an order of steak fries. Everything was great. Decor was very nice. Afterwards we went in to the small intimate bar and we each picked a different of the three desert martini's the bartender excelled in. Great night. Great experience. Highly recommend.More

My husband and I went to the Paul Hobbs Wine dinner on Sunday night. It was everything a wine dinner should be. Intimate setting, gorgeous flowers, delicious food and full of great stories and people. Chef Eric paired each tasting beautifully and the wine was...out of this world. Special event or not, 1776 never disappoints. The food, the atmosphere, the staff and the overall experience are always the best!More

Once again the 1776 team did an amazing job on the most recent wine dinner! My husband and I have not missed one yet and look always look forward to them. The wine and the food were both superb along with the atmosphere and staff....We invited friends from Chicago to join us and they also raved about the experience and are looking forward to the next one. It is so wonderful to have this level of quality local here in Crystal Lake. The vision of this establishment will continue to push forward the culinary experience in the area and I am happy to join along for the ride.More

I rarely write reviews on restaurant experiences but since this is so fresh in my memory I thought I would submit a review. The Paul Hobbs Sales Manager, Dan Pilkey, conducted a superb thorough detailed overview of the Paul Hobbs Wines and history...literally an A...Plus!!! From a food standpoint, mediocre at best. Though the service was very good, the food was so lack luster. They started with a Meyer Lemon Gnocchi, Pecorino...sounds good..so dry and not even served warm...C minus...Next was a very good Mixed Green Salad with Arugula, Wine Poached Plums and Candied and Spiced Walnuts...but its only a salad...Now the real disapointed enters.. An overly cooked and extremely dry Seared Duck Breast with Vanilla Butternut Squash..the relish and rice were good..BUT the duck not so much...and finally the Coffee Rubbed Bison Strip Steak...I ordered it VERY VERY RARE..and my wife interjected.."He means extremely rare..bright red..." They brought me a piece of medium rare..at BEST..overcook piece of meat. At $145.00 per person, they should be more on top of their kitchen and should have made an attempt to correct their numerous errors. They are cooking for only 44 people...not a difficult task with a team in the kitchen. I would not go back to this restaurant based on my experience this evening. Once again, the wines showed very well.More

The selection for patrons not into wild game is sparse. My burger was great but was one of only a few choices for people like me who are not adventurous. Knowledgeable wine lovers should go ga ga over the huge selection.

This is a wonderful little restaurant that caters to those celebrating a special event. There is passion in the food served, the level of service and the restaurant itself. Make sure you call ahead or you won't get in on Friday or Saturday night. It's...worth the callMore

Salmon was good and nice presentation. Waitstaff was always smiling and helpful. Jambalaya was spicy and flavorful. Spicy peanut dressing for salad was very good.

We really enjoy dining here for a non-typical experience. A variety of choices not available in a chain restaurant with an intimate room and excellent service. Fantastic wine selection available if desired.

We met long time friends for lunch at 1776. Our meal was fantastic! We were seated immediately and all of the staff was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. I ordered their forest mushroom soup which was delicious. I then had the salad special which was a...crab salad. Outstanding! Others had scallops and the boar meatloaf which they thoroughly enjoyed. We will definitely return for dinner.More
