We went there on Saturday, January 14, 2023. Upon arrival, I told the server that I have Celiac Disease. He assured me that the restaurant is gluten friendly and that they prepare the food in separate dishes, etc. in order to prevent cross-contamination. We order...GF calamari as an appetizer. The appetizer arrived and I put the first bite in my mouth when all of a sudden, the owner, Camille, came over and was saying don't eat that. The order was mixed up. Well, I got rid of the calamari, but told her that it might be too late. She said, you will be okay. How does she know that. Well, she was wrong, I got violently sick that night. Not only was Camille rude to us (THE CUSTOMER), she was also very disrespectful to the server. Never will we go there again. We were charged for the calamari and it wasn't an inexpensive meal. There are too many good restaurants out there to spend time in those that treat people like garbage.More

We came here for our anniversary last minute without a reservation. The dinner room was packed, but they found a nice spot for us in the bar area. This is a great family owned Italian restaurant. We were treated well and the food was amazing...(best tiramisu I’ve had ever), will definitely be coming back!More

Had a small gripe at first when we sat down; annoying, canned music playing too loud. Asked if it could be turned down; it was and we were able to get on with our dinner. What a great Italian restaurant this is! Very extensive menu,...great specials and table service was spot-on. Very small and popular (went on a Saturday night); room getting a little loud when we left. Definitely worth a return visit.More

I have to say the food and waiter were amazing and the owner/hostess not so much. We were a group of seven celebrating a 91st birthday. Some of our party were 15 minutes late due to unforeseen circumstances. The owner came to our table and...asked " Who made this reservation? They are late. You only have two hours at the table!". We were in awe....couldn't believe she said this in a nasty tone. We were well aware of the 2 hour limit. We told her we would be gone within her two hour time frame... which we were. Upon leaving I told the owner that we made it under two hours and she basically told me not to return. After we left she even called the person who made the reservation and told him we shouldn't return. What kind of a business does this?? We spent a lot of money in her establishment tonight. We were polite. Someone needs to take a refresher course in Customer Service 101.More

This was a great surprise. We have never been there, however during covid we ordered take out. The food was piping hot and the taste was superb. We had several different dishes. All of them were excellent. They offered cannoli's instead of the wine option,...which was delicious. The only negative was the balsamic for the salad. The first time we ordered it was excellent, the second it tasted ransed{old}.More

What's a restaurant like this doing in Crystal Lake? Shouldn't da Baffone Cucina Italiana be more at home in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood? No matter, the trip to the far northwest suburb is worth the time and the traffic. Located at 111 North Main Street, south...of Route 176, north of Railroad Street, da Baffone is a bright, brick-walled kitchen serving classic southern Italian cuisine. Family-owned, it opened in 2010, includes a bar and is open from 4 to 8 Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday and 4 to 10 on Friday and Saturday. My half-Italian wife, whose father was born in southern Italy, applauds the menu, which features several veal dishes, pasta and seafood. For starters, we had bruschetta with grilled crostini, diced tomatoes, garlic and basil and Caesar salad with romaine, house-made garlic croutons and Caesar dressing. For entrees, we selected veal, which is rarely found on dinner menus, even in Italian restaurants. My wife chose veal saltimbocca, veal cutlets topped with prosciutto and sage, sauteed in white wine sauce, baked in mozzarella cheese and served with asparagus. I opted for veal parmigiana, lightly breaded veal medallions topped with house-made marinara sauce, baked with mozzarella cheese and served over penne pasta. For dessert, we shared tiramisu and creme brulee. Other popular items are spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, veal Marsala sauteed with mushrooms and served with garlic mashed potatoes, sauteed shrimp and sea scallops and Lake Superior whitefish.More

This was my first time at this Restaurant. Upon being seated I asked the waitress if we needed to hurry our order— I was told, “ No”. We had several courses, a bottle of wine, coffee and dessert. Upon finishing dessert the owner came over...to tell us we were over our allotted “Two Hours” dining time and told us we needed to leave. As I was leaving I went to speak to the owner but before I could say anything she responded with, “I know you’re not going to come back so thank you; goodbye.” She was so miserable to me it almost turned my stomach over the food that previously so delectable.More

We had a great meal with wine, appetizers, our main meal and dessert with a cappuccino. The waitress was great. However the owner came out and informed we were over our time limit. She could could have asked nicely but she was rude and does...not care if we ever come back. So she made sure of that when she said all restaurants have a time limit. We had a great evening up to that point.More

Excellent food and service. Nice romantic atmosphere in downtown Crystal Lake. Strongly recommend the Antipasto Salad and the Tiramisu for desert. I had the Veal Marsala and my wife had the Veal Picata.

This Italian restaurant is awesome! If you appreciate great Italian food then this is the place for you. Maggie, our server, was fantastic. She was so nice and helpful. She answered all of our questions on the menu. She recommended a wonderful bottle of wine...to pair beautifully with the lasagna meal. This is definitely a go to restaurant for everyday as well as special occasions.More
