Been going here for 40 years. Still as good as 1st time. Never had anything but a Poorboy. ( Yes, throughout the years it has become smaller and more expensive. What hasn't in 40 years? ) Sides. Fries ok, Double baked potatoes I'm not fond of. Cottage fries are very good. But the onion rings are to die for! A... More

I've been eating at Merichka's since I was a junior in high school in 1963. I love the place. The food is still as good as ever, but I'm so angry at my last experience there that I could spit! We hosted a family reunion today at Merichka's. My wife and I both have mobility challenges. Most pointedly we cannot... More

I was part of a 27 person group and the wait staff was superb. They were very friendly and attentive and handled special requests quickly - not always easy with a large group. Unfortunately, the food was a huge disappointment. Many of us ordered the steak poor boy sandwich which is supposedly their specialty. A few could not eat it.... More

Have been going to Merichkas since I was a child, almost 50 years . Always get the Poorboy sandwich that's what they are famous for. You ask anyone in the Joliet area where to get the best Poorboy and you will " Merichkas" Also love the double baked potato and the best onion rings I've ever had I've never had... More

In all of my travels and there has been many, I have yet to find onion rings that live up to Merichkas. I have frequented this establishment for many years and the poor boy steak sandwich ( which is real steak) with onion rings is the greatest. The other items on the menu are very good too have not had... More

I Have been going here for nearly 50 years. Since the original owners have passed away it's been a hit or miss proposition. Based on my last visits it's a definite miss! Current management, if you need to charge me 50 cents more to use real butter with garlic on the poor boy than do so! Stop using the putrid... More

Old school. Proven. Dependable. It's not unusual to see 4 generations of a family dining together. It's an old/fashioned family steakhouse. Like many patrons I went for decades -- literally decades -- and ordered the chopped steak Poorboy within garlic "Butterine" , onion rings, and a relish tray EVERY time I went. Last Summer I had the best Porkchop sandwich... More

My husband grew up going here for poorboys on special occasions. On our first visit 25 years ago this was the first place he wanted to take me. The food has always been great, handbreaded onion rings, twice baked potatoes and the garlic steak poorboys. The decor hasn't changed, but that is part of the charm. Today's visit was to... More

We took my uncle out for his birthday. The waitress was a doll. Our drinks never got under half before she was refilling them. Our food order was correct and great. We have eaten here many times over my lifetime and it is still as good as day one.

The chicken steak and lobster are also good and I would change up what I ordered then but now it's Cole slaw poor boy and double baked potato. To me heaven on earth.
