We've reviewed many breweries and brewpubs and this one was just OK. We came in the evening and our first impression is that it was VERY BRIGHT, as in too bright, especially sitting at the bar. They brew and serve their own beers so it's...a small selection of draft beer, but what they had was good. Prices on the beer were average. We shared the BBQ flatbread pizza, which the bartender raved about, and it was good, nothing remarkable at all. And very small for the price. The menu is small, sandwiches, appetizers and salads. There was room for about 10 people at the bar, not as many during COVID-19. About 18 tables. They had live music which nice. No TVs. It's an industrial-style place that's very clean on the inside.More

Excellent food, great service even with the pandemic guidelines. Beautiful patio area. Had their popcorn and Cuban sandwich on a girls day out. Will return for date night or with friends.

Old Herald is outstanding... We’ve only lived in IL for less than a year, and this is our favorite brewery in the area. The atmosphere is great, the bier garden Is awesome, good food, great service, and unbelievable 🍺. We lived in Germany for 5...years, went to Munich Oktoberfest and Stuttgart Beer Fest 4 times, and Old Herald’s bier is unquestionably on par with what we drank in the motherland, and that’s no exaggeration... All their biers are excellent, and their Oktoberfest bier is unbelievable. Simply put, when in the area, Old Herald is a must visit 🍺🍺More

Just moved in here from Ohio, and it was recommended by neighbors to try Old Herald... Felt now would be as good a time as ever to support a local restaurant. I had the bone in wings, Greek salad, black ale, and hoppy pale ale......The food was excellent, the beer was outstanding, and the curbside service was great. Ohio is an unknown craft beer Mecca, especially the Dayton area, and Old Herald is easily as good as anything we had in the Dayton area. This place is a “must try”, if you’re new to the area 👍🏻👍🏻More

Four of us went and enjoyed our meal. Limited menu and mainly pub type fare. We all had plenty to eat. Food takes a while to get to table, I think you are supposed to drink beer or liquor while waiting.

Can’t say enough great things about this place. The food is excellent! The menu isn’t static so it’s nice when you go back you can always try something new. That goes for alcohol and food! They have signature crafted beers and mixed drinks. It’s a...fun, kid friendly atmosphere and the decor is very interesting. We actually had the rehearsal dinner for our wedding in their private room. Service was amazing. Drinks and food were kept stocked and we were treated like we were the only people in the restaurant. I highly recommend stopping in whether it’s for lunch or dinner or as a location to host a party!!More

My wife and I travel quite a bit and hit lots of local Breweries. We went there early on a Friday. Place wasn't very full but filled in quite a bit while we were eating, so seems to be popular. Our server was happy to...give us a couple samples of beer so we could pick the right one. I had a couple different beers and my wife and one other and all and all the beer was very good. We had a burger called the Jelly Roll or something like that and it sounded amazing. In reality it was good, but dry. Just didn't quite hit the mark. Our server was very attentive and polite. But he was also a little green. We asked him about the chips vs fries. We asked if the chips were homemade. He hesitantly said homemade...but he didn't know. He then said that he had tried a chip and it was pretty good and the fries were just fries. The chips were ok. And like I said he was very good as the actual service part. He just needs to up his knowledge on the menu.More
