This is a great brewery! We shared a flight, and we liked all the beers. The wheat and dunkel were our favorites. They have a good price on new glass growlers ($5) so we purchased one and had it filled with the dunkel. The service was great! We sat at the bar, but they also have a nice patio.

We stopped here on the way through the Mid-West. First thing that jumps out is the atmosphere. They have taken an old newspaper publishing building to make it into a restaurant and distillery. Several items on the menu have newspaper connections and there are several newspaper connections scattered around the room. It makes for a very unique and nice setting. I had the Jam Session Burger. It came with sweet jalapeno jam which had a wonderful flavor. My wife had the Ghostwriter Sliders. She enjoyed it greatly. Both my wife and I had the fries and asked for extra crispy. Often that doesn't happen but in this place it was perfect. My mother had the Mahi Mahi Wrap which she enjoyed but she especially enjoyed the house chips which had a little bit of a spicy flavor. Overall it was a very unique and enjoyable experience.

After a harrowing trip on I-70, we found ourselves approaching Collinsville at dinnertime. I searched for a restaurant with a patio and this was first. My cocktail was delightful, but most importantly my salad was made with fresh greens. I had a mahi wrap that was also fresh and tasty. The patio was on the east side of the restaurant and there was abundant shade. My husband’s beer, “The Weekend Addition,” is a good wheat beer. The Pub Salad gets two thumbs up. The bacon ranch salad dressing is delightfully tangy. For what was a last minute desperation stop for dinner, this turned out to be a wonderful meal. If we are in the area again, we will plan on eating at The Old Herald Brewery.

Only our second time here but may be the last. They gave us only drink menus even though we were there at 5:30 and wanted dinner. Brought water and took our drink order right away. But when they came back a minute later and we weren't ready to order yet we never did get waited on. Gave them 20 minutes then asked someone else if they could take our order and they said no but would get someone who could. That never happened so after another 10 minutes we left. Terrible service and obviously no comment on the food.

The wife and I drove up from Belleville. We heard the food was good. Before heading out, we checked their menu online, on the website, and we both spotted some entree's that sounded appetizing. Fish and chips sounded good to me. It had been awhile since I had a good fish and chips meal with a few beers. Arrived to find the entree's had been removed from the menu due to poor management decisions. Apparently we also had made a bad decision, no fish and chips for me. We should have left then, instead we paid for an expensive hamburger meal. What a waste of time and money. Don't spend your money here, go elsewhere. We won't be coming back.

Disappointing visit. Service was extremely slow from the time we arrived ( they were not busy.) We saw numerous other tables who arrived after receive their orders and depart while we waited. When our food finally arrived it was just barely warm. We’ve visited in the past and the service and food was better.

This place is loaded with atmosphere and a great setup with the micro beer and spirits however, it ends there or did for us. The service was atrocious and the waitress keep mentioning how busy they were, no kidding-it's Saturday night. Couldn't get a drink and the food, after waiting 1 hour, I canceled. We saw other help hustling about and people having fun, we didn't. This has a ton of potential but they need some better management keeping an eye on the operation.

We've reviewed many breweries and brewpubs and this one was just OK. We came in the evening and our first impression is that it was VERY BRIGHT, as in too bright, especially sitting at the bar. They brew and serve their own beers so it's a small selection of draft beer, but what they had was good. Prices on the beer were average. We shared the BBQ flatbread pizza, which the bartender raved about, and it was good, nothing remarkable at all. And very small for the price. The menu is small, sandwiches, appetizers and salads. There was room for about 10 people at the bar, not as many during COVID-19. About 18 tables. They had live music which nice. No TVs. It's an industrial-style place that's very clean on the inside.

We went here for a date night and it was a casual and intimate space perfect for our e ending out. There is an eclectic selection on the menu which gave a great variety of options, but beware the portions are large - definitely recommend sharing appetizers or dessert because you will be way to full otherwise. There in-house beer and spirit selection was great, and they have the usual types of beer with a few interesting twists thrown in. Very clean and adheres to COVID protocols, service was friendly and excellent, parking can be a little tough on busy nights.

Four of us went and enjoyed our meal. Limited menu and mainly pub type fare. We all had plenty to eat. Food takes a while to get to table, I think you are supposed to drink beer or liquor while waiting.

Atmosphere is interesting. Apparently, this used to be the print shop for the local Herald newspaper. There are racks of print blocks and posters of vintage issues on the walls. They've even embedded letters into the table varnish. The food and service are good too. Definitely check out this place.

Place was busy, waitress seemed a little irritated I didn’t order alcohol. It took almost 45 minutes to get our food. My husband never got the salad he ordered. Server didn’t offer to refill our drinks. My husband ordered a lager she recommended, very good. Prime rib sandwiches were really good Overall not a great experience. They are very short staffed

Just moved in here from Ohio, and it was recommended by neighbors to try Old Herald... Felt now would be as good a time as ever to support a local restaurant. I had the bone in wings, Greek salad, black ale, and hoppy pale ale... The food was excellent, the beer was outstanding, and the curbside service was great. Ohio is an unknown craft beer Mecca, especially the Dayton area, and Old Herald is easily as good as anything we had in the Dayton area. This place is a “must try”, if you’re new to the area 👍🏻👍🏻

This is a favorite. Good food, interesting beers and great service. Also, a bonus - interesting decor. It was the actual building were the Collinsville Herald was composed and printed and the building reflects that history. One more thing. They don't have a lot of vegetarian, but what they do have is pretty good. It keeps us coming back.

Old Herald is outstanding... We’ve only lived in IL for less than a year, and this is our favorite brewery in the area. The atmosphere is great, the bier garden Is awesome, good food, great service, and unbelievable 🍺. We lived in Germany for 5 years, went to Munich Oktoberfest and Stuttgart Beer Fest 4 times, and Old Herald’s bier is unquestionably on par with what we drank in the motherland, and that’s no exaggeration... All their biers are excellent, and their Oktoberfest bier is unbelievable. Simply put, when in the area, Old Herald is a must visit 🍺🍺
