Very nice and excellent Indian restaurant in Lincoln Park. Service is very good and most definitely we enjoyed the food quality. Our favorite dishes are: the 41-Bhendi Masala (Okra was excellent!) and Paneer Tikka Masala, or the 53-Gosht Rogan Josh (Lamb with Sauce)

Big disappointment. LONG wait for substandard food. Tasteless and boring. The waitstaff was so occupied with carry out they would not take care of the table customers. You had to ask for everything even water. Would not return even if you paid me.

We were in the mood for Indian and Hema's did a decent job of serving up mostly good dishes and a few not so good. Kheema Samosas to start had sort of a taco-like meat; edible but not off the charts good. Dum Ki Gobi Matar cauliflower and potatoes was delicious. If you don't like spicy, let them know. Kheema... I wasn't really impressed with this place. The prices are pretty high considering how much food you get out of it. The taste in each dish wasn't anything special and was pretty salty. I wouldn't recommend this place if anyone was in the mood for Indian food.

I love Indian food and have eaten at dozens of places where requests for mild spice are respected, but I did not have that experience here. I ordered a paneer dish with mild spice, and my friend ordered chicken with a lot of spice. When I took my first bite my eyes started watering and I was sweating from the... More

Involving more than one of her immediate family, Hema has delighted her neighbours with delectable Indian specialties for more than a generation. The delightfully expansive menu of Indian specialties is served by staff friendly, fast, and efficient. Some locals can be spotted here once a week at least, proving how reliably delicious and enchantingly varied food here is. This truly... More

We enjoyed our visit. The food was good. The prices reasonable. It was nice to bring our own wine which saves on the bill. The staff was nice and friendly. Nice mom's and pop's place. Don't set the bar too high. It's good, friendly and affordable. We liked it.

We had chicken mulaghatani which was excellent. Then we had gobi gosh -lamb which was excellent too but also had fish vindaloo which didn't contain much fish. The waiter was very friendly and helpful.will return defently.
