Our only prior experience with Ethiopian food was in Washington DC and we very much enjoyed it. After reading all of the positive reviews on Yelp, we decided to check this place out and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious and the portions are very filling! We got the Appetizer Messob which was the sambussa sampler and ambasha... More

When my husband and I travel to Chicago to visit our dear friend, we like to try new and unique experiences and eating events. Our friend suggested Ethiopian cuisine, and found this on the web. I was intrigued by the idea of communal eating without utensils---definitely a new experience for us! We were quickly seated. The restaurant itself was nice... More

I went to this restaurant many years ago after it was featured in local TV program, "check please". I loved it then, it was first time experience in Ethiopian restaurant, and it was great. Not this time though. I am afraid that all the popularity spoilt the owners and now is just passable. I went there last week for my... More

I like Demera and I'd really like to love it. However, the servers are simply indifferent. We sat at the bar for 5 minutes while 3 waitstaff chatted. Finally I had to ask for help - the bartender looked surprised that we weren't served, which was odd to say the least. The restaurant was virtually empty. When seated the waitresses... More

The food is good and the restaurant has a decent ambiance. There is a public parking just behind the restaurant.

After seeing last season's episode of "Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown" that took place in Ethiopia, my husband and I most certainly wanted to try Ethiopian food, which we didn't even know was a "thing" until seeing this episode. Where we live, there are virtually no Ethiopian restaurants, so I quickly sought one out on our trip to Chicago last week.... More

The dining room was very nice and clean. Staff was very friendly. The food was amazing, I took my BFF there for her first ethiopian meal and the place did not disappoint! Worth the $25 cab ride from downtown!

Ethiopian cuisine is similar to Indian food in many ways; hence, a popular choice for my family. Demera was a nice choice last week when I traveled to Chicago. Not outstanding, but decent

It had been many years since I had Ethiopian food, so I had completely forgotten what to expect. This restaurant is just great - service, food, ambiance. The staff did a good job guiding us through unfamiliar territory. The food was plentiful and delicious. We were there during restaurant week, so it was crowded, but they did a good job... More
