Not the easiest place to find - but persevere - it's worth it. Iced water was placed on the table as soon as we arrived. I ordered Greek salad - it was beautifully presented - huge portion. My husband ordered roast beef and mash - he reports that the beef was really tender. Coffee cups were refilled without us asking.... More

We've grabbed breakfast here a few times. Service is always wonderful and the food is great too. On separate occasions, different hotels always mentioned this spot to us.

I am in Chicago for a sports trip with my son. We have been to Tempo 3 times already, and I'm sure we'll go again a few more times before we leave. We have not had 1 bad meal there. Enjoy! I know you will.

My wife and I enjoyed a delicious brunch at a cafe that has been serving basic food for years. The service is hard-working and experienced. The kitchen, with the help of our server did a great job of accommodating my low salt, no butter diet. My wife loved her omelette and the other dishes that we saw as they passed... More

This place is recommended by the locals! The food was amazing! Both the omelets and the skillets are phenomenal.

Tempo Cafe was NOT that great. In my opinion the food was NOT seasoned at all . I ordered the steak and the eggs and was extremely thick and unpleasant to eat. I didn't finish it. My friend who joined me for breakfast shared the dish and neither hardly any of us ate it. Monica the waitress tried her best... More

Located around the corner from the Talbott Hotel, a wonderful place for breakfast. Fantastic omelettes and the best pancakes ever!! Reasonably priced, huge portions! Friendly service, lovely outdoor patio.

We ate breakfast at the Tempo Cafe (outside) and it was wonderful. We both had eggs with bacon and hash browns, and my wife added cheese and mushrooms to her dish. It was more food than we could eat and the hashbrown potatoes in particular were outstanding. The outdoor venue was nice except for the street noise. The cost was... More

Staying in Gold Coast

Neighborhood Profile
Gold Coast
Located just north of The Loop, Gold Coast is one of Chicago’s most affluent and popular neighborhoods. The original Playboy, Hugh Hefner, once had a mansion here. In addition to prestigious hotels, historic mansions and luxury high-rise apartments, you’ll also find upscale specialty boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants. Walk along Oak Street for your shopping fix and dance through the night along Rush Street. The Newberry Library is also a great stop to check out noteworthy exhibits and rare book collections.
