I have written many TripAdvisor reviews. This is probably the first review that I am so totally and completely negative. My son in law read some great reviews and took us here. Boy, is that a mistake. The portions are much smaller than the average...Vietnamese pho restaurants. I ordered the bùn, and there is about a teaspoon worth of crushed peanuts. We ordered a small pho ( $5?$7? ) for our 5 year old, and we cannot believe our eyes that the bowl of pho is literally an 8 oz or less size bowl. We never expected that! It is nothing short of highway robbery. Our bill came with a 17% tips added to it without our knowledge! I have never seen a 17% tip added to any bill from a pho restaurant. It was lunch time and there are 6 of us, but still, I have never been charged 17% tip. Not a very honest business establishment. We would never ever go back there again. No way.More

The service here was very good - attentive and flexible. Prices were a bit on the high side. The food we have was just average - mostly without much taste, but we needed to add the various provided sauces. One very good dish was the...spring rolls wrapped in rice paper with very tasty tofu. The soupy noodle dishes were rather bland. I had one with lots of vegetables. They put the rice noodles on the side, and they became a solid mess that was hard to break apart.More

We've eaten here several times in the past and now would definitely NOT recommend it, not only b/c of the food and service but also b/c the Tank Noodle owners supported the Jan 6, 2021 violent insurrection in D.C. There are many other wonderful Vietnamese...restaurants in the area, so would recommend steering clear of Tank Noodle and finding better food and restaurant owners elsewhere in the neighborhood.More

Mediocre noodles served in a shabby restaurant run by traitors. Fairly expensive for the basic meal you receive. Pass on this one.

Have been coming to this Tank Noodle location for years, and to be honest, it’s lost a step or two. Last few times I have gone there, the Pho has been very bland, and you get about half the meat that you used to get....It’s one thing to have a huge bowl for show with a lot of broth, but if there’s no meat/noodles in it, what’s the point? I also know times are tough, but the prices have crept up A LOT over time. Went there for lunch the other day as a party of 4 with 2 adults and 2 kids. 3 Pho’s, a Banh mi sandwich and 4 smoothies and the bill was $90! Yes...$90 for lunch! Hey, I ordered it I know I’m the only one to blame, I’m simply saying after these last few visits, it’s just not worth it anymore to go here.More

We had just arrived from San Francisco on a Red Eye flight and after a short nap craved a good bowl of Pho. We found Tank Noodle in Vietnam Town and were very happy with our 1st visit. Seated after a short wait we started...with an order of Shrimp Fresh Rolls just prepared and observed the efficient operation while waiting for our bowls. The restaurant was busy and tables turned over rapidly. After a reasonable wait our steaming bowls of Duck Pho and Vegetable Pho with Chicken arrived. Our cravings were satisfied as we thoroughly enjoyed the flavorful and healthy food.More

Clean, efficient service. Chicken soup with shrimp and veggies was good, but not many veggies at all. Bowls are better, especially #84.

Love this place! The best pho in town! The reason for the 4 rating is the dishes can be dirty sometimes and they could use new menus and decor.

If you're in the Uptown area in Chicago and want a tasty Vietnamese meal at a reasonable price, Tank Noodle is a good option. When we arrived it was packed. Our party of 5 had to wait about 25 minutes for a table, but it...was a nice evening so we didn't mind waiting outside. We were seated and checked out their huge menu - there are many options - Pho, Bahn Mi, Noodle dishes, rice dishes, etc. Note that there is no alcohol served here. We did see a table or two that had brought their own, so check on the BYOB option here. Our food was plentiful, well-prepared, and tasty. And, we all ate for less than $100 total.More

Not the best Pho, but not the worst. Fairly good. Good broth. Vegetables (sprouts, basil, lemongrass) looked tired and semi-wilted. Will return.

Although the broth is not very tasty like other restaurants we have been before but they did good jobs on the beef. Very tender. What I like about this restaurant is that they have almost all Vietnamese dishes. Service is nice. The restaurant locates in...the center of Vietnam section so it is nice to shop at a market nearby or enjoy Che, VN sweet soup.More

We had eaten here whenever we visit Chicago. The Vietnamese food is always good however the wait is very long. We had our parents in the 80s and they wouldn't allow them to sit on their chairs to wait for a table. They really should...have waiting chairs for elderly and family with young children.More

Large space with outdoor tables, too. Casual. Extensive menu of standards. Frankly, I found the food quality superior to any Vietnamese spots in Falls Church, VA or NYC, NY.

Tank noodle have a reputation for good cheap Vietnamese food. We were pretty disappointed. The food was bland - avoid the duck which is almost inedible- and the service indifferent. The atmosphere lacklustre and little that reminded one of the streets of Hanoi. The mango...juice with glutinous lumps of tapioca was a curious experience, not unpleasant but not mind-blowing. The only recommendation is the price, which is appropriate.More

Been there twice. First time, service was bad but cut them some slack since it was busy. Went back 2nd time, and it's definetely has nothing to do with busy! It's the attitude of the family owned restaurant. Cashier was snobbish and server wasn't just...bad. Gave us a seats right in front of toilets and the stench came all the way across to the table. Can one possibly eat with that kind of smell? Can you? Requested for a change of location but you can tell they weren't pleased as they tried to give you every excuse that tables are not ready for sitting. It's pretty obvious that they were many available seats around. What kind of customer service is that? Just clean the toilet! Definetely my last trip that.More
