Since 1977, Clark Street Dog has been a popular destination for lunch time snackers, post-game Cubs fans and late-night visitors. Chicago is a great town for hot dogs, especially Chicago-style hot dogs, and it has always bewildered me why Clark Street Dog isn't found on...any lists of the top 25 hot dog joints in the city. It should be. Located at 3040 North Clark Street, at Halsted, in the Lakeview neighborhood, it is a no-frills operation that offers takeout and delivery during the Coronavirus pandemic. Open from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. daily, Clark Street Dog offers a wide ranging and comprehensive menu of hot dogs, burgers, Italian beef, chicken sandwiches, Polish sausage, Italian sausage, gyros, chicken tenders, Philly cheese steaks, fries, drinks and desserts--and it also features a full bar, something you don't get at most hot dog joints. At our most recent visit, my wife ordered an Italian beef sandwich while I doubled up with a signature Clark Street Dog, a Vienna beef hot dog with mustard, onion, relish, tomato, pickle and sport peppers, and a cheeseburger with a quarter-pound of beef, American cheese, mustard, ketchup, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles. With fries. And would you believe we negotiated 15 blocks south on Clark Street through heavy traffic, arrived home and didn't have to reheat our lunch. Truth be told, we munched along the way. Delicious. Clark Street Dog deserves to be rated among the best in Chicago.More

This is a nice little place to grab a bite. If it’s nice outside, there are a few tables to dine al fresco. Nice menu of choices, good service, good prices.

After a visit to Lincoln Park Zoo, we chose The Clark Street Dog for lunch. There is a small triangular parking lot and a small patio. There is seating inside, as well as a bar on the other side. The staff was efficient and friendly....We ordered two regular hot dogs with nothing on them for the grandkids, a chili cheese dog, an order of onion rings and a pizza puff. The price was reasonable. The food was hot and everything was tasty. On Cubs game days, The Clark Street Dog is busy!More

Excellent Chicago hot dogs, Polish sausages, etc. There's not much atmosphere but there's an attached bar, and that is always a good thing. There is some on-site parking.

Chicago dog is very good. Have to pick your times as it can be busy. But worth the wait. Always good.

Since this place was on my way back to the hotel I stopped by here a couple times, once to get a dog and the next a hamburger. The clark dog was pretty good - with tomato, little peppers (sport peppers I think) mustard and...onion. Bit more than I normally get on my hotdogs but was in Chicago so its all good. The hamburger was pretty good as well - cooked to order and came with "everything." I wouldn't go back for the burger but it did the trick when I wanted something quick. Service was fine. The counter guys were friendly enough and worked efficiently. I would go back if I was passing through and wanted a dog, but wouldn't seek this place out.More

Brought my husband here for his first Vienna Red Hot. Rob behind the bar was funny and so welcoming. Really easy jovial atmosphere.

Our hot dog destination. Had the Original Chicago dog, chili cheese fries and a cheese burger. All great. Highly recommend this place if you're wanting the Chicago Dog experience..
