We were very impressed with the service, portion size, and value of food here. We had the Family of Three Meal, but had sweet/sour chicken and kung pao beef instead of the lobster and lemon chicken. This substitution was made easily and with no problem. The rangoons were good - a bit too much wrapper/crab, but the sauce served with... More

Totally clean, bright and inviting dining room, absolutely delicious food and extremely economically priced. Try the Orange Chicken and Mongolian Beef - delicious!

I was told of House of Fortune many years ago from Chinese businessmen from China when I asked for a suggestion for dinner in Chinatown. I have visited dozens of times with family, friends and groups (up to 30 a few times) and have never been disappointed. Their lunch menu is a steal for under $6.00 (includes soup, crab rangoon,... Placed an order and was confirmed by email and text that deliver would be in 60-70 minutes...a long time to begin with. After more than 60 minutes we received a call saying they had made a mistake with our order and had not begun it and it would be at least another 45 minutes. Needless to say we had to... More

Set right on the Southernmost end of Chinatown on S. Wentworth, House of Fortune does not boast fancy decor, but the service is great and the food is delicious. Place was recommended to me by a colleague who ordered an excellent Peking Duck from the venue. Every table gets hot tea (I didn't have to ask on this cool Chicago... More

We visited House of Fortune in Chicago, IL, yesterday for lunch and were extremely disappointed. The egg roll was just average, the pork potstickers were tough and barely warm and the BBQ pork bites were fatty. There are plenty of other Chinese restaurants on the same street in Chinatown and I am sure that any of them would have been... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown may be one of Chicago’s smallest neighborhoods geographically, but it's big on character, colors, sights, sounds, and flavors. In this South Side neighborhood, you’ll find authentic Chinese restaurants dotting the length of Wentworth Avenue. After a meal of dim sum, noodles, duck or other tantalizing food specialties, satiate your visual appetite with dozens of public art sculptures sprinkled throughout the neighborhood ranging from animal structures to pagodas, a tile mosaic, Chinatown Gate, and a Buddhist Temple.
