This diner is excellent diner food. Friendly staff, and beautiful outdoor terrace with nice flowers to eat at. Wide range for their menu. Great appetizers and burgers.

A solid late night diner experience!
It was comforting to see that Chicago has a similar late night diner culture to what I’ve enjoyed in other large cities. This diner has a typical insanely long menu that you have no idea how the kitchen can have the ingredients to make all these different items! Slightly retro decor inside and outside and 4 reserved spots for the restaurant on the side (or else you are scrambling for street parking!). The food is good with certain items highlighting the apple in the name, typical breakfast fare was well prepared and tasted fresh. Service was a bit odd but helpful and prompt, somewhat to be expected late night. Baked goods were clearly packaged and prepared off site (pies in the fridge were in packaging from a supermarket!) so I didn’t bother to try any of them. Restrooms were very clean and tidy for that late which was a nice surprise.
Overall I would go again without hesitation if I found myself in the area.

Our server (Ola) was excellent and very eager to please. But the food was just fair. In fact, I had a tuna melt and didn’t feel well afterwards. Large portions and outdoor seating is s plus, as is free parking in small lot on on street nearby.

I thought I would find a good place to get work done in the late hours if the night. Too bad the staff was filled with crack heads. It was so bad that I could not order off the menu, but rather opt to prepackaged goods located in a cooler located at the front of the restaurant. I did not know if the server came to take my order or rob me. I will never come back here. The management needs to be held responsible for this.

Absolutely horrible service. Ordered from Grubhub and received the chicken finger meal with the wrong dipping sauce. They put ranch dressing in the meal container. I am allergic to dairy (ranch has dairy). The top of the dipping container was opened during transport and the dressing spilled all over the meal. It was thus inedible for me due to my allergy.
We called the restaurant directly and they said it was Grubhub’s driver and to call them. Grubhub listened and then called the restaurant. The Grubhub representative said the woman who answered was just as rude as she was to us. She stated that it was not possible that the dressing spilled because it had a cover on. So no resending the meal or refund. We used to enjoy this place, but will never order again. We will make sure that others know about their horrendous customer service too. Absolutely shameful!

We have been here many times and it’s always an excellent breakfast. Very friendly staff very willing to bring you whatever you’d like for breakfast. It’s quick , cooked to order, generous portions and affordable. Outdoor seating in nice weather is a treat.

I have lived in the area for about 3-4 years, and have explored several places in the general area. In the summer, they have a great outdoor area to eat. And I will sear on it, they have the best fresh OJ ever. I am literally placing a delivery order with them right now for a Monte Cristo sandwich which they do a very good job with. The Biscuits and Gravy are also really killer. Great local eatery.

Why did it take so long for us to discover Golden Apple Grill and Breakfast House? How can you miss it? It's open 24 hours a day. It has over 150 items on the menu, not including a delicious selection of pies, ice cream, muffins, donuts and bagels. It serves breakfast and lunch all day. Located at 2971 North Lincoln Avenue, it has been a neighborhood staple for decades. And it's kid-friendly. Breakfast, lunch or dinner, you can't go away hungry. There are so many options. I've never seen such a comprehensive menu. Did they forget anything? My wife and I are pretty easy to please. We are mean-and-potatoes people, nothing fancy. Hot and fresh with hearty portions. You know a good meal when you taste it. For breakfast, I'm satisfied with a big glass of fresh squeezed orange juice and either traditional Eggs Benedict with two poached eggs, Canadian bacon and Hollandaise sauce on an English muffin with hash browns or corned beef hash with two scrambled eggs and hash browns. My wife opts for a cup of black coffee, a Belgium waffle with sausage or the French Connection, four wedges of French toast with two scrambled eggs and sausage. Or she may choose an apple cinnamon waffle with two eggs. Lunch means a cup of home-made chili, a cup of chicken noodle soup, mozzarella sticks, a chicken Caesar salad, a Julienne salad with greens, turkey, egg, ham, cheese and tomatoes, a hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy and a corned beef sandwich on rye or a Monte Cristo with ham and Swiss cheese on French toast. Wash it all down with a strawberry smoothie and a chocolate milk shake. For dinner. the favorites are breaded fantail jumbo shrimp or spaghetti and meat sauce with Italian sausage or breaded tilapia or broiled salmon or breaded ocean perch. Dinner comes with soup or salad, potato or cole slaw and garlic bread or rolls. At Golden Apple, you never go away hungry. And there are so many options to choose from.

Plenty of street parking, stopped for breakfast on a Tuesday morning. Friendly staff, seat yourself in the dining room or outdoor tables in a garden setting. We ordered a platter of 2 eggs, fried ham & fruit plate, orange juice and a warm pecan roll with a side of bacon. Quick service, reasonable price of $25. Well worth stopping here, the breakfast hit the spot.

I've been staying in Lake View while in town on business, and stopped into this place for breakfast. I'm very glad I did!
What a quaint setting in a beautiful neighborhood!
The restaurant has a historic feel to it, like it's been around forever.
The service was great and my steak and eggs were cooked to perfection.
Very large breakfast menu selection, quick and friendly service, and a beautiful outdoor seating area if desired.
I highly recommend!

Open 24 hours, this classic diner is the best place for anything. Their extensive menu is prepared by competent chefs and a gritty wait staff. Their Pancakes are out of this world. I dream about them they are that fantastic!
