We arrived at 9:30 pm to the pennys noodle shop. The wraitress threw the menus on the table and urged us to choose the meal. The food was correct but she flashed bad glances throughout the meal because she wanted close to 10 pm We finished at 10:05 but she was cleaning the floor while we were eating and came... More

I was told there was only one thing to order here - Hot Pepper Noodles - in Beef, Chicken or Tofu. I had the Tofu - was very nice with Thai basil and hot sauce - it is spicy though! Great option for a cheap meal in Chicago.

The food is good here but the food was nothing special that I feel I need to go back here. It's standard Thai food that you can get at any Thai restaurant. The service was just ok. I would go back here if I was in the neighborhood craving Thai but I wouldn't make a special trip here.

I went there with my son. We were going to a show at the Athaneum Theatre. We had the spring rolls. They were fresh & delicious as was the edamame. My son also had crab rangoon which he said was great. We both had Pad See U. I had shrimp he had chicken. The shrimp was ok but the noodles... More

I think I have been spoiled by the deliciousness of Jims Noodles. Penny's noodles was just too peanutty for me and kind of greasy. The chicken was actually pretty good. It wasn't what I ordered, but it's what I got, and not sure what it actually was called.

While visiting Chicago a friend had suggested Penny's for lunch. The place is ordinary in appearance and menu offerings, however, the hot pepper noodles blew my socks off! One of the tasty dishes I've had. In fact, so good I went back the following day to try the phad thai, once again a home run. Job well done!!!

We had lunch at Penny's noodle shop on our recent trip to Chicago and I have to say that I have never had a meal so horrible. We ordered the chicken pad se eu and the chicken was very dry and hard. It was also extremely sweet. We also ordered the gyoza, which were fried to a crisp. Both the... More

We enjoyed the food which was made with fresh ingredients and served promptly but somehow it just missed being delicious. Nevertheless it was good value for money and the staff were pleasant. Care had been taken over the decor and it was a clean environment. This restaurant is very popular with the locals who seem to drop in after work... More

I visit Chicago a lot and stay in Lincoln Park-Lakeview area. I always see Penny's Noodle Shop from Diversey train station. I decided to give it a try. They have friendly service but sorry to say that food is not great. It's not terrible but at best, it is very ordinary. I ordered gyoza and satay for my 3-year old... More

Think you can’t eat cheaply in Chicago? Think again. Head to Penny’s Noodle Shop and score dinner for around $8. When I asked my server about her favorite dish, I was offered an off menu item called Dry Wonton Noodles, a combination of two menu items, Egg Noodles with Barbequed Pork and Thai Ravioli, which are miniature shrimp and pork...
