I almost didn't write this review because I'd like this to stay the hidden gem it is. It was recommended to us by the taxi driver who brought us in from the airport & I'm so glad we went. We had the thin base meat lovers pizza & it's one of the best pizzas I've ever tasted!!!

There are many much better places to get pizza in Chicago. We ordered 2 and both were hard as rocks and flavorless. Back to Giordano's it is.

A tour guide said Oprah Winfrey called this either the best thin-crust pizza in Chicago, or the best she had ever eaten, or both. That's what convinced us to try it. The pizza was excellent, but not the best thin-crust pizza we'd ever eaten. The crust could still be less dough-y. For a somewhat authentic Chicago experience, Pizano's was a... More

We went with the thin pizza and it was very good. Found out after the fact that one of my colleagues who lives in the area thinks it's one of the top pizza places (he also prefers the thin pizza). Service was good and I would definitely go back there.

This is my go to spot for pizza - great service and great pies. I have tried many Chicago pies and this is the real deal. While the teenage family prefers Ginos, they have asked to return to Pizanos on our next visit.

Ok. So let me start off by saying I'm not from Chicago, so I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure this is how pizza is supposed to be. The dish is deep, the crust is crunchy, the toppings are stacked, you have to eat it like lasagna. The pizza does take about 35 minutes to make, but that's great, there's... More

Strolling distanced from Buckingham Fountain, Millenium Park and the Lake Michigan Water Front. Yes! get the linguini with clam sauce!! But only after you share a Chicago deep-dish pizza ... this will give you the energy to tour the Chicago sports memorabelia displayed throughout this authentic Italian joint. Mille Grazia!!

Our prior experience with Chicago deep dish pizza was Unos (the chain -- not the original) and it's ghastly. While the recipe the Pizano's pizza comes from is the same, what a difference. Great crust, made with cornmeal, fresh sauce, and sausage from the same butcher they have used for years. I can honestly say this is among the best... More

Staying in Gold Coast

Neighborhood Profile
Gold Coast
Located just north of The Loop, Gold Coast is one of Chicago’s most affluent and popular neighborhoods. The original Playboy, Hugh Hefner, once had a mansion here. In addition to prestigious hotels, historic mansions and luxury high-rise apartments, you’ll also find upscale specialty boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants. Walk along Oak Street for your shopping fix and dance through the night along Rush Street. The Newberry Library is also a great stop to check out noteworthy exhibits and rare book collections.
