Came from tx just to try their famous skirt steak and eggs. It wasnt as great as i thought it be. I asked for medium and got medium rare which i wasnt trippin. But the rice, pre meal and chocolate dessert thing were not very...tasty in my opinion. I could not eat those. Will try another steak from somewhere else next time i go to Chicago.More

Never seen a phillipino breakfast place before. But this works nicely. So you can eat american food as well. Noisy place, food decent, good coffee. They give complimentary rice soup and boiled eggs as you arrive. I ordered an omelet. Not disappointed. No complaints. I...would go againMore

Checked out this restaurant which was highly recommended by our family. Although they serve other brunch items like pancakes & sandwiches, we went to satisfy our cravings & curiosity for a true Pinoy goodness while in Chicago. We were pleasantly surprised that the servings were...huge! Every meal is accompanied with “lugao”(chicken flavored rice porridge) with boiled eggs to add for starters which hits the spot immediately! You can have more helpings of Lugao anytime. We ordered the Tocino ( seasoned carnelized pork ) & Bangus ( marinated milk fish) combo. It had fried rice, 2 eggs over medium, amazingly very tasty grits, mixed cubed tomato-onion side salad, peppered vinegar & “champorado “( rice porridge w chocolate, sweetened). We totally enjoyed our Pinoy Meal. The pudding-like champorado, a deviation from what we typically know, was delightfully delicious & was the dessert to end the meal! The owner Uncle Mike was friendly & extended a traditional Pinoy custom by giving us a “baon” (take home) freshly packed lugao! We had a very nice & helpful server as well! Highly recommend this place for a quick, delicious & tasty Pinoy food at a very reasonable price.More

Get there for breakfast and enjoy the meats, the rice soup, and the friendly atmosphere. You can't go wrong with their breakfast, one of the best in the city.

Starting your day with such a big breakfast is customary among filipinos. Every once in a while we indulge in such yumminess. The staff were friendly, the food was great. We took our leftovers and had it for lunch at the airport while we wait...for our flight.More

An American Filipino Surprise thanks to my older sister who told me this place in Chicago. The Tocino Breakfast was worth it. They give you hearty portions of Tocino and eggs plus 1 complementary Lugaw (or Aarroz caldo). best of all It is not that...expensive either. For Older Filipinos or families that bring they can eat a fish Breakfast called Bagus (Milkfish) or a combination of other rich filled Filipino American Breakfast dishes all served also with Fried Rice all Under $16 to $12. Also called Topsy Log Bangos Log (thus Log meaning abbreviation of Egg in Filipino language, Tagalog). It is a must try if you want to experience True American Filipino or Filipino American Breakfast. Open super early 6 am to 7 pm except Sundays open 6 am to 3 pm. They serve the Filipino Breakfast for Dinner or Lunch too. Also serve American Breakfast and Lunch dishes too that are non-Filipino (or Non Pinoy) related.More

Whenever we are in Chicago, we eat at Uncle Mike's. You can get Spam and rice, Filipino breakfast with tocino- marinated pork shoulder (yum!) or longaniza (Filipino sausage) with eggs, garlic fried rice and tomato sarsa! It's all good! They have American breakfast too. You...get complimentary chicken rice soup- think congee to open the palate or if you are lucky chocolate rice porridge.More

Good food and really good people. We stop in when in the area due to predictable good food. Only thing missing is an omlette with sausage. We'll be back again.

Uncle Mike’s Place delivered on our expectations on Filipino breakfast fare, and friendly pinoy hospitality. If you’ve been craving si-log (sinangag and itlog) plates then this is the place to go in Chicago. We ordered the baby bangus, and the tocino breakfast plates which came...with garlic rice (sinangag) and two eggs (made to order) each, with diced tomatoes w/onions, vinegar (for dipping), and a small cup of sweet sticky rice pudding on the side. While we waited for our orders, we were served “Uncle Mike’s soup” which is “lugaw” (rice porridge), and the very friendly and attentive server gave us each a souvenir key chain. Very nice touch! On our way out, Uncle Mike himself thanked us and offered treats (a large container of lugaw, a bottle of patis (fish sauce), and a can of Filipino corned beef for “baon” (take home goodies)). All in all it was a very nice experience. The food was good. The people were great. We will be back to try their skirt steak, which is their most popular dish. Give yourself time to look for parking though.More
