Lots of comfort food options for vegans, I really enjoyed my mushroom lentil loaf. I'm not sure what happened to the mashed potatoes that were supposed to be on the side though, they were replaced by green beans and sautéed potatoes that seemed pretty greasy. I did otherwise get friendly, fast service in a very convenient location just a short walk... More

Hands down the best vegan Ruben in the world! Our party of five ordered four Rubens, one Gyro, a plate of nachos, and an order of Thai chili wings. The food did not disappoint. Plus we had leftovers for another meal, as the portions were substantial. The French fries that accompanied the meals were light and crispy, and the salads... More

They have amazing Vegan food here, as well as some awesome vegetarian items. The portions are always very large and the sides are very great. My favorite was the "chicken fried steak." I could eat this every day of the week! It does get extremely busy here, so sometimes the wait staff aren't the most attentive, but it's a small... More

I usually go to the Halsted location but I'm glad I got to check out this location. It's updated and bigger than the original location. 5 stars for the consistently great tasting and top quality food as is with every location. The service is also just as fantastic! This Logan square location however has worse traffic and parking. I managed... More

I met a friend here for lunch and everything was very good. Nothing out of the ordinary and I loved the organic options they had.

the chicago diner is a great little restaurant if you're vegetarian, but especially if you're vegan. we stopped by after visiting northwestern university and it was a short walk from the purple line halfway back to the city. we were on the early side so were seated right away. it took a bit for a waiter to come over, but... A very comfortable, warmly informal setting, where we could comfortably hear one another, where the service was excellent. Our waiter, Kyle was a charmer. The menu is huge, giving us all sorts of choices. We went for brunch. Do not miss the cinnamon rolls! I ordered an omelet filled with veggies, with a side of hash. They do all sorts... More

Although I am not a vegan but granddaughter is and she lives in Chicago and wanted us to experience The Chicago Diner. We ordered the poutine, mushroom truffle fries and the squash fritters. All of which were excellent. I had the vegan lentil soup which was delicious. The vegan hot buttered rum was great on that cold snowy night. We... More

I am not Vegetarian or Vegan so in all my years of living in the area, I never went in. But when your son is born with Dairy, Egg and Peanut allergy, you try new things. (Kitchen is peanut free too) With that said, we thought this would be a great place to bring my 14 month old son and... More

April 2, 1983. In a city known for meat packing & hog butchering, a brave pair of optimistic vegetarians opened a ground breaking meat free eatery called The Chicago Diner. Since then, co-owners Mickey Hornick & Jo Kaucher, have built a reputation for wowing customers with unique and innovative dishes, changing minds about “The Way a Diner Should Be”.
