I met a friend for happy hour here in Chicago and left happy hour and follow him to a bar downtown. It was this bar. The bartender was great. Really nice guy. Too many drinks though. Grrrr 😬

We stumbled across this tiny gay bar on our last visit to Chicago. It was just a few blocks from our hotel. The drinks are large and reasonably prices. The customers are friendly and nice to chat with. This is not a stylish bar, but...if you want to relax in a nice atmosphere with good drinks, good fellow customers and none of the posing and crap you get at most gay bars, this is a great place.More

This bar is predominantly male. Very small bar but the patrons are friendly. The drinks are reasonably priced and strong. Will definitely go back.

Walked into the bar on the recommendation of hotel. Wow! The person at the front door on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 10:30 pm was the worst FIRST IMPRESSION. He was rude. We went back to advise the manager on duty- there was not one....That must explain the rudeness. We walked away and bought nothing. Not gonna spend my travel dollars there. No thanks.More

As the only gay bar located convenient to the Loop and Magnificent Mile area, this is a popular spot that can be very crowded during cocktail hour and weekend evenings. The crowd is relatively mature, as younger folk prefer watering holes in Boystown, Andersonville or...the South Side. As you'd expect in a neighborhood bar, a good number of the patrons are regulars.More

A fun local joint in downtown Chicago way out of all the gay bars in Boys-town. A mix of locals, people having after work drinks and a few tourists. It's only some years ago and you had people still smoking in here. The bar attendant...would shout you shots and drink with you if you stayed long enough, but that's all long gone now. Still a friendly and sometimes very busy drinking hole!More

Always a pleasant experience, friendly locals, pleasant bar tenders. Popular post work hours, cocktail hour, etc.. Busy on weekends / holidays also. Cash only, no food. There is a restaurant at sidewalk level, plus many more in vicinity, off Michigan Avenue location. Venue there many...years, has regulars, generally friendly with affable conversation. Am a Chicago resident, have frequented the venue solo and with friends, always pleasant. Not for "hot" cruising, per Chicago North Halsted street "Boystown". Sincerely recommended for gay visitors who prefer the presence of kindred souls. Simple, non pretentious venue.More

Just a head's up they only take cash! It is very dark inside the bar itself and you have to take a set of stairs up to the business. Was not impressed.

Love this bar! Great small bar that has great bartenders, regulars who strike up conversations about anything! The drinks are excellent and well prepared. Love our Tuesday Jeopardy show which brings the patrons entertainment. Brian and AJ lead a fun group of regulars! This is...a fun experience which results in many first timers visitMore

We visited this bar which was somewhat difficult to find. If you are not careful you can walk right by it, but don't. It was our first night in Chicago so we thought we would check it out. You walk up some stairs to get...into the bar, hence the name "Second Story Bar". It's small and a little like a dive bar and they scope you out as you walk in. LOL. We found the bartender to be very welcoming and super friendly. We chatted with a few people who were locals. There was a nice diverse group of people when we were there. The drinks were good, strong and affordable, but they only take cash. We enjoyed it and planned to go back, but we were so busy we never had an opportunity. However, we will go back on the next trip. Check it out and find out for yourself. I think you'll be happy you had the experience.More

I basically left after I order a drink. So sad since the place looks nice....strange stairs and shares the entrance with a hand reader. But really.....no credit cards?!? ...in Chicago...?!

Nothing else really matters but the drinks are $5 and they will get you feeling right. Good throwback music and the bartender is pleasant company. Good place to go to start or end the night.

We stopped in here after doing some sightseeing. A Bears game had just let out so we wanted to wait until all the crowds on the L trains thinned out to go back to our hotel by Boystown. It is as it says...a dim lit..cash...only..local bar. Bar tender was friendly and made great cocktails!More
