smallish place, nothing fancy with a wide-variety menu. lunches better 'n average for a good price. service a little pokey; but if ordering take-out, can wait at any of 5 or so sit-in tables, usually not occupied. metered parking on higgins; but (hint) for quick...in-and out, several slots of free diag parking around the corner may be available. Had General Tso's Chicken, large portion, nice and spicy. Was quick and hot. Very tasty! Gentlemen who took my order were very friendly. Place was pretty quite, but it was a Thursday night.

A small storefront restaurant located just east of Harlem Ave., there is seating for about 15 - 20 people, but it seemed like most of the business was take-out or delivery. Their menu is extensive with a number of interesting variations, as well as small...or large sizes of the orders. We tried the egg drop soup and the hot and sour soup. The hot and sour soup did have a bit of a kick to it, as you could definitely see the red peppers in it. For appetizers we tried the potstickers and the crab rangoon. Both were tasty, there were six in the order and they were huge appetizers. We had the shrimp moo shu and a combination fried rice. Both were good, though I did prefer the fried rice. The order takers were very friendly, though busy.More

A great value. A huge menu. This restaurant is one of the best values on the northwest side of Chicago. It has a Cantonese, Hunan and Thai selections. The food is prepared well and is very consistent. Their delivery service is superb.

I ordered delivery. I asked for crab ragoon, hot and sour soup, orange beef and sautéed broccoli both spicy. It came with a free egg roll. I asked for hot mustard and sweet and sour sauce for the ragoon. The soup was fine, the crab...ragoon was terrible. Very greasy and the filling tasted old and no sweet and sour sauce. The egg was was terrible too. The orange beef was way too sweet, it tasted like beef candy. The broccoli was steamed not sautéed and had cracked red pepper on it, an attempt to spice it up. It was a poor experience at best.More

I still miss Lin's Garden and the old Moy's " Three Star" in Evergreen Park. That said, Fried Rice Express comparable in quality and value to those gone-but-not-forgotten favorites. The offerings mirror those commonly available in Chinese take-out places, but are tastier than the others...I've tried locally. A good choice of you don't want to make the trek down to Chinatown. If only they had Tiki drinks :-)More

The food here is a solid cut above most chinese take out. It tastes fresh and almost wholesome or homemade or something i can't put my finger on, but definitely the opposite of the over salted over fried over processed mucky muck at many take...out places. Though Fried Rice Express tastes a lot better than other chinese places, the menu choices are familiar. The food is always ready promptly. Sometimes, we find 'freebies' added to our take out bag. It's always fun to try something new.More
