Awesome food! My daughter and cousin had this huge frenchtoast, yes! French toast at a Mexican establishment and it was tasty good! I had mahi mahi tacos, awesome. Great peach Sangria that my cousin and I had. Servers were great too! We spent about 3hrs...just eating, drinking and enjoying the atmosphere!More

This restaurant has more margarita choices than I’ve ever seen. Many of the servings are huge, and they’re quite tasty. They don’t skimp on the liquor here. The food is very good too. The menu is extensive, and prices are reasonable. There is both indoor...and outdoor seating, and the restaurant gets crowded, especially on weekends. The servers work really hard to keep everyone happy. Our server, Pedro, was great.More

I was walking by and saw a group of people getting some margaritas so I decided to walk in and get one. Very friendly staff, Latin music and a very enjoyable and impeccable environment. In my personal opinion is a bit overpriced but very recommendable...to visit. Had an enjoyable time.More

Fun atmosphere with very good food. Prices seem reasonable for Mexican food in a major US city. Owner and staff super friendly. Never had the dish called "PUNTAS" before - loved it. Ordered sweet plantains and black beans on the side - enjoyed both. And...- the carrot cake with caramel sauce was terrific. If I lived in Chicago - I'd be a regular.More

I went here twice. The first time was around 5 on a Thursday afternoon. The place was empty and they told me to sit anywhere. I sat inside because it was a warm day. I was a bit shocked at the prices but ordered a...small, 16 ounce frozen peach margarita and the Monterey burritos dinner. They brought me free tortilla chips, which were hard and a small plastic cup with a lid of hot sauce, not salsa. The food was ok, if not hot and substantial portions. I was asked once during my meal if everything was ok. I thought maybe I would go back sometime. So I very foolishly went back again last night around 8:30. Only this time I was put at a table along the wall and my order taken, similar to the first one. This time I had chicken enchiladas with red sauce. It took much longer to get everything. They had people sitting outside, mainly drinking. Again, I was mostly on my own inside. As a result, after I finally got my free chips and hot sauce, margarita and dinner they ignored and forgot me. The red sauce on the three chicken enchiladas was very bland, not at all hot or spicy. Although I like sour cream, I didn't request it and it further cooled the food, which was barely warm anyway. I have eaten at Mexican restaurants all over the world, from Cyprus to Tijuana. I know good Mexican food. It's supposed to be served hot, temperature wise. I have eaten at far less expensive Mexican restaurants that had much better food and margaritas that were just as good, if not better. I guess maybe they feel like being in Chicago justifies their prices. I gave them a decent tip during my first visit. Last night I truly regret allowing them to keep the change from $33.00 in cash. The check was for $32.06. They certainly did not earn or deserve the 94 cents. They seem to spend far too much time socializing with people who stop by to chat and with preferred patrons who sit at the outside tables and order a steady supply of drinks. If I wanted Mexican food that isn't served hot, I'd simply go to Taco Bell. I could eat there six times for what I paid for one visit here. I recall one of the very best Mexican restaurants I've ever been to, with the server bringing the food to the table wearing oven mitts, saying: "Please be careful, the plates are very hot!!" And very fragrant, sizzling platters of fajitas, etc being brought to tables. Not so here during my visit. The very expensive margaritas seem to take precedence over the food here. And it certainly shows. I ended up wishing I'd just gone to the 7 Eleven across the street for a couple of their cooked hot dogs. They would certainly have been a lot less expensive anyway.More

From the super-friendly service to the delicious and enormous portions (I had the Quesadilla) to the frankly ridiculous Bulldog Margharitas, everything about this place is great. If I lived nearby I'd be there every week!

Comfortable atmosphere indoors..outdoor seating in the warmer months. Great service and very tasty food. Carnitas tacos were good...the chicken burrito was huge and the same price as the tacos....Great service!

I have passed this place and it always looks classy. It is classy and roomy. The food is pretty good. I don't like the coffees like Starbucks or many of the specialty coffee places. I like regular coffee. Their coffee is not to my taste...but I bet most people might like it. They are well known for their Margaritas. I am on a fixed income and the place is a little pricey for me. There is a lot of high quality art work. Some of it has partial nudity so I am not sure if you want to take young children too. It is a good place for a party of adults to go to for an "outing."More

Great neighborhood place with outdoor patio; solid menu and well-made drinks; by far better than the downtown joints for tourists.

Tarascas is a good place. The Tacos& Burritos were sooo good. Nice Margaritas too! 😇. And surprisingly for a party of 4 we paid only $125. Compared to more than $180 in other Mexican restaurants near downtown Chicago. The waiters were of course all from...Mexico. I can recommend this place.More
