There was a time when a steak & chop house was a place of cigars, spirits and meat. Most of that history lives on at The Erie Cafe. However smoke-free the large (kind of exciting) dining room is, the Oysters Rockefeller and Martinis, Manhattans and Jack on the Rocks live on and quite well at that. Aged cuts of beef,... More

We had a party of ten and were seated near the entrance. The meal was very good with a mixture of Italian food and chops. However, there was a large party of 120 upstairs and our service of the food was delayed. The restaurant apologized and sent a bottle of wine on the house.

I found out about the Erie Cafe in a magazine interview with a local concierge. She rated it highly and mentioned steak. The cafe is run by the grandson of a famous steakhouse owner in Chicago so I thought it would be worth a try. It was outstanding. A very cool open space with excellent service. A great menu and... Ate here at the end of a trade show. I had had a greasy steak here before and thought I would try something else on the menu. Had the veal parm and thought it was exceptionally bland. Salad was ok and appetizers we also just OK. I guess this place just failed to live up to past meals this time.

The food here is excellent. If there was no TV, this would be a fine dining establishment. The TV makes it a pub but they don't act like one. Big steaks. The liver and onions is excellent and far more than a sane person can eat. Pork Belly on top is a meal in itself. I will come here again

Recommended by a local for a nice place to get a steak and pasta. Erie Cafe did not disappoint! Petite filet mignon was anything but petite and cooked perfectly. The pasta bolognese was delicious as well. Would recommend if you are looking for a place with a great meal, nice atmosphere, and a nice bar.

We had lunch here and were greatly pleased. The atmosphere is elegant with cloth table clothes, great silver ware and well dressed waiters. The service was quick and attentive. We split the salmon and it was cooked perfectly served with rice and vegetables.

I can't believe I've never been here. And I can't believe anyone who liked Gene & Georgetti wouldn't like Erie Cafe better. The salad and cottage fries are similar, but better. The service and atmosphere are better. And the 22 oz. bone in prime rib was tender as butter. (Wish I'd taken a picture.)The location is a bit off the... More

We met friends who live in Chicago for dinner, and they suggested we go to Erie Cafe. What a terrific choice. We started with the grilled calamari, which we all agreed was was delicious. We then had the house salad, which was included with dinner (as was a plate of cottage fries), and followed with our entrees. Both ladies ordered... More

Great food and generous portions. My steak was perfect and my friends got the Chicken Parmesan and it looked very good and my friends agreed. The grilled asparagus was perfect and calamari was delicious.
