The food was good, portions plenty, with efficient, friendly service. What sets this place apart is the amazing desserts! (Just tell yourself that you're going to eat salad for the rest of your life!) If you're lucky enough to be there when they've got cheesecake, look no further, you simply have to indulge. If however, they're out (unfortunately common), everything... More

Took some coworkers on a business trip. Had been to this place about 7 yrs ago, and it's still awesome. The seafood is great, steaks from Gibsons are available and so good. Our waiter and the service was top notch. Highly recommend this place!!

We loved it when we lived there in the 90's and it still is one of our favorite on our to do list when in Chicago. We had clam chowder soup, Crab cakes, lobster. All excellent. Everybody working there was super nice all the way up to the GM. Price is really fair for the quality of food and service.

Great atmosphere, fantastic food and all served as you would expect in Chicago. Not the cheapest but well worth the extra spend for an enjoyable night out. Gets really busy so be sure to book in advance. Make time for a cocktail or two before you fine if you can.

We found Hugo's to be very expensive for the food we received. The food was good but not excellent. We always go there when in Chicago but last visit for us.

Cheap it isn't but the food is so good that who cares. Live a little. Make sure to make a reservation. There was a waiting list from hell when we arrived. With a reservation, we walked right in. The steaks are delicious. That's all you need to know. Cannot speak to anything else, as that is all I ate.

Hugo's continues to impress. I enjoyed a great meal at the bar on a Thursday evening. The service is efficient, friendly, and nicely done. There is a fun mix of people- from neighborhood regulars to the usual business crowd. Excellent seafood, nice steaks, great drinks, and extensive wine list.

Went in because a good friend recommended the martinis. The bartender took the challenge and we had to order a second! Just perfect. It was a good place to watch the Olympics and see Michael Phelps win his final gold as the crowd went crazy inside. We met another couple and had a wonderful conversation with them about Chicago as... More

The restaurant is the sister restaurant to Gibson´s Steak House. At Gibson´s it is difficult to get a reservation. At the Frog there are usually availabilities at the desired time and you can get the Gibson steaks if you do not like fish. The Frog restaurant offers a good range of fish and seafood choices. The wine list is extensive... More

Service (Arthur) was fantastic. The seafood menu was extensive and high quality. Wine list was excellent. Met the GM (John) who was polite and gracious. This is a really nice place to go for date night or a small group. They have large rooms, but we didn't visit them. We enjoyed oysters on the half shell, they have a nice... More

Staying in Gold Coast

Neighborhood Profile
Gold Coast
Located just north of The Loop, Gold Coast is one of Chicago’s most affluent and popular neighborhoods. The original Playboy, Hugh Hefner, once had a mansion here. In addition to prestigious hotels, historic mansions and luxury high-rise apartments, you’ll also find upscale specialty boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants. Walk along Oak Street for your shopping fix and dance through the night along Rush Street. The Newberry Library is also a great stop to check out noteworthy exhibits and rare book collections.
