On a long walk my wife and I were drawn into this warm and lively bistro with a colorful storefront, a tiled floor, and more quiet than many places these days. The basic house salad was perfect, the mussels were full of flavor, the daily soup was broccoli and it was so good, and the lamb sandwich on brioche was... More

We chose the traditional french dishes. They were sumptuous and excellent. The price didn't break the bank. Nor the price of wine. Service was excellent. Overall, a great experience. Would recommend without doubt.

One block from Sutton House Hotel in a restaurant area. Very French bistro we had escargot, caramelized onion tart, duck, and the house filet. Nice surroundings but food is average. Lesser french decor but better French food at other places.

French comfort food - nothing exotic, just a solid, delicious meal. Fantastic service. A bit heavy for summertime fare, when we went, but still wonderful - we split a series of appetizers recommended by the waiter and an order steak frites. He picked a great wine for us, too!

As a french family, we like to go to Chicago and discover new french restaurant. We really enjoyed Bistrot Zinc. The room is beautiful, very professional staff and the menu is classic but very tasty. I really recommend this restaurant.

Ordered Croque Monsieur - bread too thick and doughy did it come from one of those plastic packages? My friend ordered Grama's Chicken - believe me Gram never made one so tough. She had to get a steak knife to cut it! The chocolate mousse came in three ice cream scoops. Never saw it presented that way before although the... More

I was in town on business and met a friend for dinner. He is a foodie who spends a lot of time in France. This is one of his go to places in Chicago. The atmosphere is lovely, the service was perfect and he food? I had the warm fig salad and the Vol au Vent. The salad was light... More

Excellent place. Food is delicious, interior is very cozy and atmospheric. Good wine selection. Excellent escargot. I had chicken and mushroom crepe, and it was pretty good. My husband loved Moroccan tagine, and plans to come back just for that. Service is smooth and attentive.

BZ has been a gem in the glitzy North State area for decades. Sitting in the window area brings the street scene close, while a table in the rear brings the diner to France. I love the mussels, prepared in a white wine sauce and steamed to perfection. Having eaten this dish in France, Spain and Italy, as well as... More

My boyfriend and I stopped in for a glass of wine and we really enjoyed our time. The bartender was really top notch as he was friendly, knowldgable, and had a positive attitude. The venue is romantic and clean and I love the location as you can easily walk around after your meal. It wasn't terribly crowded and doesn't attract... More

Staying in Gold Coast

Neighborhood Profile
Gold Coast
Located just north of The Loop, Gold Coast is one of Chicago’s most affluent and popular neighborhoods. The original Playboy, Hugh Hefner, once had a mansion here. In addition to prestigious hotels, historic mansions and luxury high-rise apartments, you’ll also find upscale specialty boutiques and Michelin-starred restaurants. Walk along Oak Street for your shopping fix and dance through the night along Rush Street. The Newberry Library is also a great stop to check out noteworthy exhibits and rare book collections.
