The food is great. The service is excellent. The place is very crowded and very loud, but that's because it's super popular. Make sure you have reservations.

La Scarola is proof that a restaurant doesn't have to be located in downtown Chicago or resemble an Italian villa to be successful. It's all about the food and service. On those accounts, in 18 years, La Scarola has built a reputation as one of...More

You want Italian, doesn't get any better than this! What can I say; it's loud, not very big, out of the way, it's perfection!! Very popular with the locals, not on the beaten path for visitors! My wife was told about it by some locals...More

This restaurant came highly recommended by friends. We planned on visiting Chicago months ago and called to make a reservation for Easter Sunday. Upon arriving at the restaurant it was closed for renovations!!! They never called to inform us!! So disappointing!More

Best Italian food! Loving service and wonderful chef. Wine and cocktails are great! Gets very busy but they do take reservations and the bar Richards next door is fun to visit as well

Armando is the man. Pasta with vodka sauce and the best pasta fagliole in Chicago. Best service in the business.

I was here on business and my cousin from Brussels, Belgium happened to be in Chicago too. I haven't seen her in 7 years and she happened to get married in that time. We went out from a nice Italian meal. The Gnocchi Pesto and...More

All of the great reviews drove us here. Looks like a sketchy neighborhood, but it's really OK, all of this area is rapidly gentrifying. We made reservations about a week out, and glad we did, looks like a long wait otherwise and there is damned...More

Understand some might be confused/put off by location and approach but it's impossible to think a diner walks away i) not having had enough to eat; or ii) not proclaiming the pasta and menu items among their favorite Italian places in the country. It's just...More

Well. You can call and make them but good luck with that. We had reservations but when we arrived we're told they had no tables. We will never be back. Try Bella nott down the road. Ramone is awesome.
