We came for dinner and we were seated immediately. We started with the creamy crab Rangoon appetizer. We think that Friendship Restaurant has crab Rangoon that re at the top in taste. We ordered two different entrees from what we would typically order and we were impressed with both. The first was the Phoenix chicken and the second was the "Barbarian" steak. The service was very good, all of the food tasted great and the price was reasonable. We thought that the portions were quite ample.

Went here on a Wednesday evening with friends. Sadly we were the only patros at 6:30, hopefully it fills up later, the food is really good. The atmosphere is cozy with a fireplace in the back. A nice elegant touch when tables have white tablecloths. I had the Peking duck, an ample portion and very tasty. Comes with rice ans steamed buns. We also tried the chicken fried rice and sweet and sour pineapple chicken. If we had one complaint it would be that the dishes needed abit more sauce. Otherwise the food is great.

A very good, slightly upscale neighborhood Chinese restaurant in Logan square. Our group of four enjoyed several appetizers and several entrees-all of which were well above average.

My cocktail - the living dead was flavorful and potent.
My entree the Hong Kong Steak was flavorful and so tender and my vegetables were great. My date had the Peking Duck which was flavorful and crispy. Such attentive service. The price was more than reasonable. Great ambiance! Looking forward to the next meal there.

How the restaurant ruined my Christmas.
I've been going here for many years and have watched what use to be a good restaurant crumble. I literally ordered from Friendship at 4:30pm, hoping to treat myself to some overpriced Beef Chow Fun and some nice appetizers as I was solo this Christmas. At 5:30pm the food was not delivered. At 6pm I called the restaurant inquiring on my order, May asked for my name and said it was on its way, no more than 20 minutes away. Given that the restaurant is literally 10 minutes from my house it was believable. 30 minutes later I called back saying it still hadn't arrived, she asked for my name again, it was still May who answered the phone, and she said, not to worry it was on its way. 10 minutes later, I decided to place a complaint with the online site i had ordered from, as it was now an hour past when it was supposed to be delivered, while chatting with the customer service agent, she said that the order had never been processed and would need to be canceled and reordered. Meaning, that May over two phone calls had lied. I was shocked. Having waited since 4:30pm for my food, expecting it at 5:30pm and it was now 7pm. I then called the restaurant directly, and May was not apologetic, she was defensive saying she never lied and that she would have no idea what food or order was being delivered and what wasn't. I explained to her, had i known that the issue an hour ago, I could have reordered and not still been waiting. I was visibly upset, and she could not care less. I asked to speak with the owner, and he refused to get on the phone. As someone who likes to support neighborhood business and restaurants, i am shocked by this complete lack of care especially on Christmas. I will not be ordering from Friendship again, and am going to look for a business that actually cares about my patronage and cares about customer service as the treatment I got from May on the phone was downright rude.
If you want overpriced, late delivery chinese food that doesn't care about your business...then this is your joint., Otherwise, I would recommend finding neighborhood places that care about their neighbors.

Although the Chinese food here is very well executed, we were recently introduced to the 8+ course "tasting menu", which highlights the versatility and capabilities of Chef Alan. Starting with crispy pork belly and mini baos, succeeding courses demonstrated various levels of Asian fusion, from plump traditional shu mai to a fresh green salad with apples, grapes, raspberries, and walnuts. It was a fun experience, and all delicious.

My group of eleven had a really bizarre experience here on Christmas Eve 2015. We had a reservation for an alcove of the restaurant reserved for large parties. We arrived and were seated. Fifteen minutes passed before anyone came to fill our water glasses. Another ten passed. Then someone came to take our drink orders. No drinks arrived. One of us got up to ask if we could order some appetizers. No waiter arrived. Then the lights went out. Yes, the lights in our part of the place went completely out and we sat in the dark. One of us went out to request help. A waiter came in and noted the lights were out, but made no attempt to turn them on. We sat in the dark another five minutes, then all got up and left. At the door I told the man at the cash register about our experience. He could not have cared less. Really weird. Needless to say, we will not be going back.

The food here is so good. We're from Florida we don't get good Chinese food. until we come to Chicago and Friendship Chinese Restaurant. Their crab Rago on snd sesame chicken is divine. If you can come on Tuesdays everything on the menu is one price. My son had the blueman sushi. It also was great.

This pretentious restaurant was very fancy for its neighborhood. However, the food was bland and relatively tasteless. it was extremely overpriced and not a good value.

We stopped in here for an early dinner - and the food was amazing! We started with a ligtht clear broth soup - very good. We had an appetizer of the Friendship Egg Rolls - they had a light crunchier wrap than normal egg rolls - Hong Kong style is what we were told. For the main course, I had the "Barbarian" Steak - slices of steak with fresh mushrooms and asparagus served with a tangy spicy sauce! It was so good! My wife had the Honey Glazed Shrimp with candied walnuts and broccoli the shrimp was wonderfully cooked and had a slight crunch to them I highly recommend this restaurant!

Like the other reviewers said, this is not a typical Chinese restaurant. The food is delicious, with unusual combinations based on traditional dishes. The atmosphere is elegant, quite unexpected from the outside entrance. It's a gem in the Logan Square area, and worth traveling to from any part of the city.

We had lunch at Friendship yesterday and I had forgotten how good this place is. It is in a neighborhood (northern Logan Square) where you would not expect an elegant Chinese restaurant, let alone one that serves modern takes on Chinese food. They serve things like Salt and Pepper Crispy Beef and Honey Walnut Shrimp which are Chinese in origin, but a slightly different preparation and delicious taste. We had the $9.95 lunch special which came with Egg Drop Soup (which had vegetables and beef in it) as well as teriaki chicken fried rice. I had the Barbarian Chicken, which had just the right amount of spice and my husband had the Teriaki Miso glazed Salmon, which was done perfectly. The check came with chocolate fortune cookies. The decor is tasteful and fancier than you would expect. We usually go for dinner, and enjoy it, and we were really happy that they are open for lunch too.

This place is one of my go-to restaurants. I've lived in Logan Square for about 8 years, and hit this place at least 3-4 times a year, and have never had a bad meal or experience. Both the food and the presentation are second to none. My wife and I both love everything on the menu (and we have literally tried it all), but our favorites are the Hong Kong Steak and the Sesame Beef...Also, I guarantee the pot stickers are not only the best you have ever had, but I bet you have never seen it presented in that fancy of a manner before.
Tip, the portions are huge there, and every dish comes with a large bowl of rice. my wife and I usually just split one appetizer and entrée, and are good to go. Also, they do serve alcohol, but also allow you to bring your won wine for a small corkage fee, which we usually do

First of all let just say ,this is not your typical store - front chinese restaraunt. The food has its own signature. The menu has some of the classic dishes ( General Tso , Mongolian food ?, fried rice)I remember this location from a few years back in its previous life, it was dark and thekind of place you were nervous about entering .Now WOW the menu the food the attention to flavor the little twist the put on each dish. The pineapple in the fried rice ,or the flavor, of the shrimp & lobster sauce. This place has really turned the corner in a maor way
the attention now is on the food.
