The food was very good, I loved the carpaccio. My friend asked for the risotto, which was regular however a larger size than you would expect for an appetizer. The pizza was good. Our server was really attentive. The price was expensive in my opinion, but the food, service and ambiance were good.

My husband ate here 40 years ago and we returned with our daughter. Our table was ready and water and warm bread came promptly. Portions are more than generous. My salad Francesca was almost a meal in itself with ample beans and pea pods and blue cheese. My husband's risotto with sausage appetizer was good but more like a main... More

as an italian national, i find the pretension and the prices laughable. over $20 for a plate of pasta? i can make it better for a fraction of the cost. and the wine list? you would think you drink liquid gold. this place is for gullible americans who have never been to italy. let them eat cake!

We were part of a small family reunion of folks who did not know each other at all! Seems we had the same great grandparents and our grandfathers were brothers. They evidently had a major falling out as young adults and their children knew little or nothing of each other. The old family business was a funeral business located in... More

The asparagus ravioli is one of the best meals I have ever had. To die for! Nice selection of imported beers. Good location on Taylor Street. Perfect for family dinner or business meeting. Reasonably priced.

I had to entertain five business associates from across the country in for a meeting and Francesca's was a hit with everyone. Everyone found something on the menu they liked. The service was prompt, friendly, and professional. The food was outstanding and the portions were gracious. The signature deserts were outstanding. The restaurant has a decidedly local feel, in a... We dined at Francesca's last night and it was awesome! I miss a true Little Italy section of town since we live in Washington, DC and we really don't have this type of restaurant in our magnificent city. The mussels in spicy marinara are not to be missed . . . you will want to eat bread dunked in the... More

Very good Italian food. We had a tilapia dish and spaghetti with sausage; both were fine. Their tossed salad was quite good. Bruschetta was also good. Service was very professional. We were there on a Saturday night and it was pretty full, but service was efficient. Tables were small; noise level was medium.

Francesca's On Taylor has terrific Italian food. My husband and I ordered off the restaurant week menu and were delighted with all our choices including the salad with yummy bleu cheese, bruschetta, lovely pasta dishes including a delicious spinach ravioli. Our entrees consisted of a wonderfully prepared tilapia with mushroooms and tomatoes as well as a nicely seasoned chicken breast... More

Supper was fantastic! Our waiter was very helpful and the food came with very little wait. The wine was reasonably priced, as was the food. The salads were fresh, the pasta delicious and I had no room for desert...large portions! Great restaurant.

Description
Francesca's on Taylor features the zesty, earthy cuisine of Rome and the surrounding areas of Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio. Chicago Magazine notes, "It brings a new kind of abbondanza to an old Italian neighborhood." It is the fourth restaurant opened by Chef Scott Harris, whose philosophy is to encourage the lively art of dining with a contemporary, casually sophisticated trattoria ambiance, good, rustic cooking, friendly service and fair prices. Anne Spiselman of Crain's Chicago Business observes: "A rolled-mesh ceiling, warm woods and geometric light fixtures give the room a rather clubby look, brightened during the day by light coming through the windows facing the street. And, Francesca's on Taylor takes reservations. "No, it does more; it honors reservations. Twice I made reservations, twice I walked into a packed dining room, and twice I was seated within 10 minutes," notes respected Chicago Tribune food critic Phil Vettel who claims this to be his favorite Francesca restaurant.
