We went there only because its the oldest steakhouse in Chicago and a landmark. BIG mistake! The food was mediocre. It is really dated and loud. The bread was hard. The breadsticks were stale. The strip steak was flavorless and the sautéed spinach was hard and very oily. I just don't get it! Have a drink at this landmark but... More

I first ate here in 1957. It does not seem to have changed. An incredible retro experience. Nothing trendy. Solidly great food and drinks without foofoo jazz. Even the waiters seem the same. Yet there was energy, conviviality, celebrities. A very welcome step back in time.

This place is an icon in Chicago. We always have it on our list when in town. Fantastic food, excellent and very friendly service. One of my favorite places for a super steak. Love how they char grill them. This is a must try if you are in the city.

Our neighbors insisted we go here during our stay so we found our way there for a late lunch. The lunch steak special was perfect for my husband while I thoroughly enjoyed liver & onions. Great liver - it came with homemade chips and bacon (much more like ham). Service & ambiance perfect although it is definitely a neighborhood place.

great food, great service, great people at a reasonable price for downtown. Old fashion furnishings add character to the place. Also a nice room available for business dinners. Convenient location.

the food in this place is top notch, the decor is a bit cramped but hey it was opened a long time ago, the food was awesome and price was lower than what to expect at a new high end steak house.. ruffino chianti is a nice wine

Heat old style steak house. Portions were copious. Don't overdo the appetizers I had the shrimp cocktail and bone in rib eye. The steak was really perfect. The service lagged a bit but the quality of the meat made up for that weakness

Although I have been coming to Gene and Georgette's for years, I had not been back for about 5 years (more?). It was exactly the same and terrific again! We were a large party and nothing was amiss. All of our food was perfectly cooked and served; the steaks were superb as I remembered them to be. Our waiter could... More

Gene & Georgetti's is an iconic Chicago institution. Located in the shadow of the L tracks, it doesn't look like much from the outside. A step through the small entrance feels like crossing a portal back through time. The atmosphere inside is reminiscent of old Chicago. The photos that cover the walls suggest that this is where politicians and business... More
