My colleague and I found this gem by accident a couple of years ago, so we thought we would try it again. Once again, this restaurant did not disappoint! The service was excellent and the food was absolutely fantastic. This will definitely be on our "must visit" list the next time we are in Chicago!

This is probably one of the best Italian places I have been in Chicago. You have to try the Carpaccio, Farfalle with Salmon and their house wine from Sardinia is great. Service is impeccable.

Volare is a bit hidden in Streeterville and for good reason. Fun Italian family atmosphere with quality Italian staples. We usually go here when our cousins are in town as it is their favorite spot in the city when they visit. We've tried a few different dishes, wish the Gnocchi still being the champion in my opinion. The squid ink... More

When I think of how many times I've walked past this restaurant and not eaten there.... I won't make that mistake again! As soon as we walked in we were greeted and welcomed as old friends. The smell is amazing. Crowded and loud only adds to the experience. We had Chicken Parmigiana, Farfalle alla Salmonata and Gnocci alla Vodka with... More

Considering the temp was below 10 we wanted something close to our hotel and we wanted Italian food. Volare did not disappoint. Very authentic from staff, to dinner choice, and even Sardinian wine. Not from Chicago but we will visit again when in town.

From walking past the windows was expecting and fancy upscale, stuffy establishment. Upon entering discovered and lively, vibrant restaurant greater by the loud, straight to the point head of house...just the way a good Italian place should be! Place is huge with two rooms. Kitchen is right there and not hidden. Kids loved checking out the pizza side. Food was... More

Was recommended by a friend and it was amazing! Make a reservation or you will not get in. it is busy and a buzz of activity. We had the calamari it was excellent! And then I had the gnocchi, so soft and fluffy! I was with some work colleagues and they all loved their meal as well. We could not... More

My wife and I had come downtown to Chicago for just a getaway night. Staying at the Inter Continental Hotel next door it made for a short and convenient walk. The food was very good as well as the service. The only problem that I have with the visit is that the seating is very crowded making it hard to... More

Wow, out of all the restraunts in chicago we went here twice. First time I split with everyone. We got the black spagetti, chicken parmisiagan, and meat with noodles in them. It was all good especially the black spaghetti. For dessert we got lemon cello, they where really good! When we went back the second time we got the black... More

Went on a Monday night, immediate seating. Had the Chicken Parm and other pastas. Calamari good for an appetizer. Excellent salads as well. All around, great food and service.

Staying in Streeterville

Neighborhood Profile
Streeterville is where visitors head for play at Navy Pier, a pseudo amusement park and development of restaurants, shops, rides, and other activities. You’ll find lots of action and excitement on the docks. Along the pier, you’ll see the statue of the captain for whom Streeterville is named. While you enjoy your fair share of sightseeing at the pier, you can also visit other popular attractions there such as the Chicago Children’s Museum and the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Off the pier you’ll find more restaurants from low-cost pubs to high-end establishments. Arts and culture aficionados should be sure not to miss the Museum of Contemporary Art.
