This used to be a "must" when visiting Chicago. We liked it better than Hawaii or California. When making our reservation online they ask for special request/information, so we almost always requested the butterfish prepared as they used to with black rice, wasabi cream sauce and bok Choy. This time upon dining they informed us that was not possible. So....there... More

Expensive. Food was decent. Host kept us waiting for our table well after our reservation time, even though the restaurant had empty tables. Odd that they don't serve bread with the salads. The waiter was the correct level of attentive and unobtrusive. Was pretty good but there are better options for less money all over Chicago.

My wife and I were looking for a fun brunch location for us and our two small boys after a morning visiting the Adler Planetarium. Roy's recently started a Sunday brunch, and they did a wonderful job on the most important things to us 1.) making our sons feel welcome 2.) delivering wonderful food. The children's menu delivered wonderful thick... More

Big fan of Roy's and have had exceptional meals at most of their restaurants - Chicago was very disappointing. Specialty Vodka lime cocktail was excellent. Two had the trio, and one had the butterfish (black cod). Butterfish entree and on the trios was exceptional as always. Mahi mahi on the trio was badly over cooked. Hibachi salmon was also badly... The restaurant is very nice the atmosphere is great, relaxed and the food is so good. I had a butterfish and a pineapple reverse, both were great. I loved the beer and the server introduction to it. Super.!

Loved the food selections - pricey but very well prepared. Nice upscale atmosphere and unique food selections. Manager came by to say hello, great interaction with staff while being served, we did have an issue with the check though - had a gift card that our server rang wrong and then he said we couldn't use it - long story... We came here 3 yrs ago to celebrate my birthday and we happened to be in Chicago again this year for my 40th bday so came back! This visit we had our 6 and 10 yr olds. We all enjoyed the whole dining experience! Loved the food! It was not too busy on a Sunday night.

Took a bunch of friends to Roy's because of having eaten there several times in the past. My favorite has always been the Butterfish. I feel it was not quite the same taste and quantity as two years ago. I think everyone had a good time though. Service was good for us.
