The two menu items we chose were disappointing; perhaps they were not house specialties. The pork dish was primarily pieces of fat, pure fat, little actual meat. And the Mongolian beef was OK, but not great. Wouldn't go back to that restaurant.

Been there plenty of time when they were in the old location, recently moved into a bigger nice location around the corner from the old locations, decided to tried them, been there twice, both times were bad experienced. 1st they lost my check with my...credit card given to the waiter to give to the cashier, waited forever for my bill to sign for. Decided to go up myself to the cashier. They cannot find the bill nor my credit card. They asked the waiter and all he said was he placed onto the cashier counter. It was finally found fell on the floor under the cashier table. They said sorry once and no very sincerely. OK, mistake happened and return there again to give a second chance. After all, the food was good and prompt but left overs for doggy bag was poorly bagged, sauce overflowed and wet the paper bag, fortunately, there was a plastic bag over. Second time, service took forever to take the order, food was marginal tastes, ordered BBQ combo rice dish. plenty of rice, not enough meat and meat was dry, only 2 stalks of bok choy veget and not enough sauce to mix with the rice, leaving some rice just plenty and bare. Questioned will return for a third time punishment?More

I just went to the new restaurant, around the corner from the old one. It is just as good as before but expanded and better. Fresh live seafood, wonderful bbq meats, very low prices and super friendly service. It is a family business and many...of the same people from before are still there. The family is very solicitous and want to make sure everything is good. Since they just opened they comp’d us a Peking Duck dish and deducted 15% from the check! But the prices a very low although live seafood is costs more - but is still a steal. I hope this new business thrives and continues to be successful. I have been going here since the late 80’s and am happy to see it growing and remaining a family business. It is such a nice restaurant you would be comfortable alone or with a group. Can’t wait to go back!More

This place has no bells and whistles. It's all about good, stick to your ribs Chinese comfort food. My go to is the lechon (roast pork) with a filling dipping sauce, seafood combination, shrimp fried rice, and wanting soup with noodles. The service is hit...or miss, but you don't come here for the service. This spot made an awesome meal on Xmas day.More

No frill authentic Chinese Filipino food that won't break the bank! If you have ever visited Manila, and took the opportunity to dine on Chinese food Filipino style, this establishment will definitely bring back those memories. If you are a lover of Cantonese and Szechuan...style Chinese food as I am, you should experience the difference in the taste of Chinese Filipino style food at Hon Kee Restaurant. Parking is on street. Walking in, you will be warmly greeted. A quick glance to your right and you will see the takeout food counter. That is where you can purchase Roast Duck, Barbecued Pork Ribs, Lechon Kawali (Roast Pork with extra crispy skin) Soy Sauce Chicken, Steamed Chicken and other dishes, which are all sold by the pound. You will be shown a table, served Jasmine tea, linoleum floors, generic art, and a menu. The menu is not overly large, but large enough for you to find a dish or three to more than satisfy your appetite. We ordered Beef with Bitter Melon served over Steamed White Rice, Scrambled Egg with Chopped Shrimp served over Steamed White Rice, and Vegetable Lo Mein. Each dish was perfect. To take home for our supper, we placed an order for half of a Soy Sauce Chicken, half of a Roast Duck, and one pound of Lechon Kawali. All of that delicious food was had for less than $50.00.More

I have only been to this restaurant for lunch. It's not much to look at (although it's interesting to see the head-on ducks and whole suckling pigs in the front of the place). The food is basic, but good and really inexpensive. I had the...curry beef with rice this time, and it was tasty and good. My daughter's bbq pork with vegetables and rice was great, too. It was $5.50 for a big plate of food, and it comes with a pot of hot tea. On our most recent visit, we were the only non-Asian diners. I think that's a good thing..at least it didn't bother us at all.More

Have been to this no nonsense restaurant for 4 months. Food was good, quick and very reasonably priced. On our last visit one of our guests had a pork dish that screemed fraud. It had large lumps of pork fat and lots and lots of...tofu. Not what was on the menu. When we spoke with the server he said thats how its made and walked off. We were polite and just decided that not to return ever again. We had a great relationship with this server and has some good memories, but now its like so many valentines of the past! So long and good luck we wont return and be treated that way.More

I have been going to Hon Kee since I lived in the neighborhood 30 years ago. The same family owns it. Though it's not at all fancy, it's always reliable. Their noodles are home made and I like that they offer rice dishes prepared for...one. You have your choice of meats to go with it. Very inexpensive. Watch out though; I think they close on Tuesdays. Prevent yourself from experiencing my frustration!More
